King George is characterized as "depriving", "abolishing", and "ravag[ing]" the colonists way of life. He is described with strong, harsh language to show him as a true tyrant and evil force. The language for the peoples actions is shown as "petitioned", "warned", and "reminded" painting an innocent picture of the colonists and showed them as rational kind human beings who have tried peacefully, but now have to resort to radical movements.

The founding fathers explained their reason for separation out of respect to Britain. They wanted to justify that there is a true reason for the revolution, and that they have merits for wanting independence. They have petitioned, rebelled, protested for their rights, and as none were heard, they need to separate to secure their rights. This is the appeal of Ethos, as the Founding Fathers are showing they know why they are asking for independence and to justify that the reasons are true and good evidence. They raises the respectability of Americans as they are showing the reasons for their actions, not just rushing into war for no reason, but as a last resort for their freedoms.

Jefferson uses parallelism to reveal that their lives have the same importance to them as their Fortunes and Honors, by listing them with the same "our" Jefferson gives them equal weighting. In these times their ego and wealth mattered as much to them as their lives themselves.

By listing the reasons (facts) for why the Americans want to separate, Jefferson effectively incorporates Logos into the DOI. He shows why this separation is necessary and makes it indisputable that the King is a tyrant. The American Loyalists can see clearly that there is a multitude of reasons to revolt, so rationally this is the right thing to do. These facts prove that Britain is oppressive and they must separate.

the Colonists are highly religious individuals, and the king uses god to justify why he is in power (called divine rights). Jefferson makes the point that god guarantees their rights which both discredits the kings use of divine rights and bolsters Jefferson's trustability, as people are likely to believe in him if it is gods word.

These discussions and petitions have gone no where (as he mentions in the text) and that has angered the FFs into finally being "done" with England.

Other things that may have sparked this document in addition to what Aarnav said are things like the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea party protest. The colonists are tired of being mistreated and not listened to, and they're tired of being killed and punished and jailed. They're tired of war too. All this made them want to officially "break up" with England.

They call him out on all his crap and they uses loaded words, clearly trying to come at him (calling him "tyrannical" and saying he "ravaged" "destroyed" "plundered" "depriving" "harassing" "obstructing" etc.). Those words create a much more emotional, bitter, resentful, angry tone than Chimma mentioned.

Jefferson uses measured pacing/syntax in this last part of the letter to deliver a final blow. Making the sentence long with frequent pauses through commas and semicolons helps him be clear and precise and self-aware of everything he's declaring. It gives the impression to the audience that he's serious and formal about this split up, making it more likely for Britain to acknowledge them or prevent fighting back.
