How has this course infuenced your understanding of EBP?

This course showed me the importance of using evidence based practice to enhance quality of care for patients. It helps OTs make informed decisions, improves patient outcomes, gives credibility to the OT, and is ethical practice.

How has your understanding of EBP evolved through the course?

It has evolved drastically because going into it I had not done anything in undergrad regarding evidence-based practice. I had a very vague definition of what it was but I knew nothing going into it or how important it was as an OT.

Share any personal experinces or case studies discussed in class that have influenced your view on EBP.

I read a case study from AJOT regarding using telehealth and virtual reality as an intervention type for patients with CP. It was really interesting to read the article and use what we learned in EBP coursework because it gave the assignment a different lens. I found this study super interesting but would love to see more research on it as they only used one participant.

How do you envision applying EBP in your future professional practice?

EBP is something all of us OT need to use and follow because it helps keep us current on the research, helps us select the best interventions for our patients, personal treatments, collaborate with other providers, and so many other areas.

I have gained the ability to determine the level of evidence of an article, how to critically appraise an article, and how to examine and dig into the information. I really didn't do much of this in my undergrad so most of what we did was new knowledge for me that will be beneficial in my future studies and career.
