1.How do economic conditions determine the characters' lives? The amount of money determined the way the characters lives went is because they were living in poverty at the start. The way they ate was not healthy, they were eating butter with sugar. After their grandma died they were living in a nicer home.

2.How are class differences presented in the work? Are the characters aware or unaware of the economic and social forces that affect their lives? The work classes are presented in the book. It shows that the Walls family is the bottom class on the scale. The characters are unaware of the economic and social forces that affect their lives, because it doesn't seem like they really care they are just living their lives as it comes at them.

3.Does the work criticize class structure?

Yes, even though the book is through a personal narrative rather than direct it shows the impact of poverty in families.

"Grandma's dead" Rosemary said "And now we have a place to live". Their Grandma died early in her life around 60 years old. This quote stood out to me because it revealed a different side of Rosemary she wasn't just talking about art like she normally does in the book, but she also didn't seem to care about her dying. Rosemary was only glad that they will have a place to live. This makes it seem like while in poverty people don't tend to have many feelings towards others and only want what is best for themselves, but that may just be rosemary.

Home, this motif stood out to me because they don't really have a place to call home. Since they move around so much. The home in this book I believe is family, although they run away when things go wrong. They always seem to have each other and dream their big dreams about the Glass Castle.

My family is different from Jeanette's family in the book The glass Castle. My family does not neglect me in the ways hers do. I did live a little alike to her house wise because growing up I didn't have a stable home. My Dad also used to be an alcoholic like Jeanettes Dad. I learned about how it's hard living in poverty without stability, some people it's even harder than others.
