Reading 1: Return of the 1950s housewife

1. With the closure of schools and nurseries, the responsibility for child care falls once again on families and mainly on women.

2. Women take on more childcare duties, while men tend to work more overtime.

3. This triple load women are carrying may exacerbate the high levels of stress that mothers are already at risk of – along with other mental health issues.

4. This is also a time for couples to have an honest conversation about who is doing what – and how things can be made fairer.

5. Employers may also need to be realistic about what working parents, and other workers, can do at this point.

6. Society still thinks that women should take care of the home and care, while men should focus on making money.

Reading 2: Flexible working can reinforce gender stereotypes

1. Overtime and Gender Disparity- Men are more likely to work longer hours when given flexibility, even if it's unpaid overtime. 

2. Reinforcing Traditional Roles- Flexible working can lead women to increase their household duties, while men may experience less encroachment on their family time. 

3. Flexibility Stigma- Women who work flexibly are more likely to face negative career consequences, such as lower pay and damaged career prospects, compared to men. 

4. Gendered Expectations-Employers often expect women to use flexible working to accommodate family demands,while men are expected to prioritize work and protect their career advancement. 

5. Organizational Culture: Traditional organizational cultures that prioritize work over everything else can hinder the effective use of flexible working arrangements.

6. It is very frowned upon for a woman to work but why do we all have the same opportunities

• What do they think about the information you learned? As a working woman, I feel that the comments that gender roles are very marked by society and many people still think that way.

• Is the gender inequality situation true for our society, for our home? I consider that today gender inequality is no longer so noticeable, but it still exists in many homes.

• Is there anything you as a son/daughter can do to ease the burden or reduce the work load? Yes, helping with domestic work so that it is no longer a burden for my parents in addition to their work.

• What did you learn from talking to your parents? From the interview I did with my parents, they learned that in our house there is almost no gender inequality, because both have their obligations and help with household chores.

• What do they think about the information you learned? 

They think it is very good information because not all families are aware of these types of problems and it is good that we know a little about them.

• Is the gender inequality situation true for our society, for our home? 

Yes it is in our society but not in our home because we all have roles.

• Is there anything you as a son/daughter can do to ease the burden or reduce the workload? 

If not to make a mess and help with the daily work.

• What did you learn from talking to your parents? 

I learned their point of view and everything they think about the subject and they gave me ideas.

• What do they think about the information you learned? 

It is something that has many opinions, it is a controversial topic but I believe that everyone should have the same opinions.

It doesn't happen in my house, but in society men are rude

Help my mom in whatever way I can financially.

  because all times change

1. Constant communication about responsibilities at home, so that it is a fair job for both parties and that there are no problems.

2. Equally divide childcare and household chores responsibilities between both parents. This improves family relationships and outcomes for children.

1. Give talks to families about the gender roles that exist in the homes and how inequality in jobs and domestic tasks must be reduced.

2. Recognize the "Mental Load" and help with the task of the house to make work easier
