Eliezer was finally free from the concentration camp and he was in the hospital looking at himself reflecting what has happened.

In the end we see that eliezer has completely lost is innocence, and his faith is no longer. He also realizes that even though he is finally free, the holocaust has made such a big impact on his live and who he is as a person.

Eliezer is describing how his very first night in the concentration camp felt/went, describing it as life changing.

We see that as eliezer doesn't know what's going to happen in his future, as threw this rough time, he gets used to harsh conditions he is being put through (beatings). Which just made him struggle more spiritually.

At this point in the chapter eliezer has giving up on his faith because of the the bad happening around him, he believe no God exist.

We see that eliezer has lost all the feeling for being religious and he think God would let something this bad being happening if he actually cared. He is also fearful because there is selection happening.

Eliezer father just passed away and he is feeling mixed emotions.

We see that eliezers mind set has changed, he said in the past he would never want to treat his father poorly or let him die. His father just died and he is feeling freed from his burden.

At this point in the book eliezer is being moved to the final place during his imprisonment. He and his father are still alive and trying to make it through, they just got off the wagon that was the toughest trip they have had to go through.

We see that eliezer is just trying to survive for as long possible, and he is still trying to take care of his father even though he wants to give up, he hasn't completely lost hope.

eliezer and the other prisoner were being forced to march thought the cold snow, while being very tried, and on the verge of death.

Eliezer is just trying to survive for his dad, and he is feeling sadness. Many other people have died during this march so he wants to protect his father.

They were getting separated to women and men, and eliezer got moved away from his mother and sisters, and was just left with his father, this is when they first arrive in a concentration camp.

We can see in this chapter that eliezer starts having doubt in his spiritual beliefs, and he is also losing his innocence due to exposure from the camps. He sees the true impact the Holocaust has made and hes facing reality.

At this point in the chapter eliezer has gotten moved to the ghettos, and he and his father were talking about what the future would hold for them and what the outcome would be.

At this point we don't see much change/growth in eliezer because it's the beginning of the book, but we can see he is very observant, and pays attention to detail.

At this point in the chapter eliezer along with his family and other people in his ghetto are being transferred to birkenau, a lady from his ghetto keeps having these visions of fire threw out it and finally they arrive at the concentration camp.

Eliezer is feeling helpless and fearful for what may be in his future, and the fact that they are trapped in side a car is making him feel suffocating. He feels helpless because there is nothing he can do to get his family out of this imprisonment that is to come.
