Course: NSG 430 Transition to Professional Nursing

This course includes a module on Ethical and Legal Issues

Social Media Tool: Adobe Connect

Why Adobe Connect: Adobe Connect is a web conferencing tool that can be used for synchronous or asynchronous instruction.

It includes: conferencing (audio and video) live video, voice with PPT presentations; audio alone; white board, sharing of documents on your desktop.

This tool facilitates student/faculty and student/student interaction. Sessions can be recorded and made available to class/group after the session via a secure, unique URL. The archived sessions enable students to review materials; and can be made available to students who missed the synchronous session.

Information about Adobe Connect (which is supported at my university) can be found at: https://academic.uthsc.edu/edtech/connect/overview.php

Objectives: The student will:

1. Discuss behaviors suggestive of an impaired coworker. (Case studies)

2. Demonstrate how you would handle a situation in which you suspected a co-worker was impaired. (role playing)

3. Explore Professional Assistance Programs

4. Discuss how to report a colleague suspected of impairment.

Outcome: Students will develop communication skills needed to engage in “difficult conversations” around peer substance impairment. The use of Adobe Connect provides an opportunity to “role play” from a distance.

Looks like you are looking at Web Conferencing, specifically synchronous tools, Patty. I encourage you to also think about Voice Thread, an asynchronous tool with the same two way feedback concentration of content. Additionally, do consider these options
