• Note: We could also use Connect to have students do their course presentations--this would enable us to "see" them as they presented, rather than having them do voice over powerpoint presentations.

Why Adobe Connect: Adobe Connect is a web conferencing tool that can be used for synchronous or asynchronous instruction.

It includes: conferencing (audio and video) live video, voice with PPT presentations; audio alone; white board, sharing of documents on your desktop.

This tool facilitates student/faculty and student/student interaction.  Sessions can be recorded and made available to class/group after the session via a secure, unique URL. The archived sessions enable students to review materials; and can be made available to students who missed the synchronous session.

Objectives: The student will:

• 1. Discuss behaviors suggestive of an impaired coworker. (Case studies)

• 2. Demonstrate how you would handle a situation in which you suspected a co-worker was impaired. (role playing)

• 3. Explore Professional Assistance Programs
  
• 4. Discuss how to report a colleague suspected of impairment. 
  

Outcome: Students will develop communication skills needed to engage in “difficult conversations” around peer substance impairment. The use of Adobe Connect provides an opportunity to “role play” from a distance.
