French had taken this the wrong way, because shortly for the two countries signed the treaty, the French and Britain had just gotten out of a fight.
     President Washington had sent Charles Pinckney to France, but the government had refused him. After John Adams had became president he had dispatched a delegation to Paris and made peace with the nations again. They attempted to send a minister from France, but they put him off. Three agents informed the US commissioners in order to get him back or to see him they would have to pay a bribe and a loan to France among conditions. 
  Pinckney didn't want a sixpence. When the United States got the words from France they were furious and wanted war. Congress had asked to see dimplomat's reports regarding the situation. The three French agents were then renamed X, Y, and Z. This is how the X, Y, Z affair got its name in July of 1788 it authorized American ships to France launching war. They later settled it with convection at 1800 know as the treaty of Mortefontaine which was ratified in 1801.

Federalist and Republicans would have to pick someone for their presidential candidates. The person with the most votes became president, and who ever got the second most amount of votes became the vice president. 
     My artifact represents a voting box. The reason why they needed and alliance was, because Britain and the United States were still having trouble after the Revolutionary War.  Britian had flooded the United States's markets and American exports were blocked by the British trade restrictions and tariffs.
   Washington only approved the treaty, because of the popular disapproval. He thought it would be a price of peace with britian. This would have gave the United States valuable time to consolidate and rearm in case of another war between the two countries again.

Judith was one of the most delicate and precise women in history. She was very well known in her time period. She was well know because she argued forcefully for improved female education and for women to be allowed to public voice. Of course people during that time period greatly appreciated her work.
She wrote amazing quotes that inspired many women's, but some of them were long and very great in depth. Judith was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, born on May 5, 1751. She had 3 siblings and mother was Judith Saunders and father was Winthrop Sargent. Judith was one of the first to create a new essay series for the " Massachusetts Magazine", then developed a second series of that as well.

This gavel shows that The Judiciary Act of 1801 reduced the size of the Supreme Court from six justices to five and took away the justices' circuit duties. The Judiciary Act was also one of the main acts there was and still is today as well. One of the first things the Congress wanted that was to establish a federal court system. Then that is where the Judiciary Act came in to play.
   The Judiciary Act during the time period of 1801 was to help Congress approve a sweeping reorganization of the nations court system and greatly expanded federal jurisdiction. I used this item because the whole Tarrif Act was all about to protet trade and to raise revenues for the federal government.  What happened during the Tarrif Act was that the first substantive legislation passed by the first congress, operated as a device both to protect and to raise revenues for the federal government. The Tarrif Act happened of July 4, 1789. The people that were involved in the Tarrif Act are George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, and Woodrow Wilson.

It also forbid public criticism of the government. They needed this, because Democratic Republican wanted the United States to be friends with France, but the federalist did not. Since the federalist didn't want France as their friends, they viewed them as traitors.
     They placed the States rights above the federal government, then Kentucky and Virginia had established a percendent. This would justify the section of the section of the southern states in the civil war. Madison was chief or architect, with a strong government in the constitution, and was wary of the national authority. Madison had helped Kentucky legislature to reject the federal laws because of this. 
     My artifact for the Alien Sedition Act is a drawing of the unite or die picture.       Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Shadwell, VA. He was the draftsman of the United State Declaration of Independence.  Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd president of the Untied States. Jefferson was a leading founding Father of the United States. 
     Jefferson was also the author of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.  Jefferson was the spoke man for the democracy. The Declaration is important part of the American democracy.      This is important because without it we would be missing one of the most significant aspects of the world we live in today.       For my second artifact I chose a bottle of corn seeds to represent the taxes on whiskey. The corn represents the alcohol and how farmers felt these taxes were unfair. They felt it unnecessary for the items that they would need. For example, these items included corn, the, and grain.
 This item is very important because it represents the corruption that took place. Not only did it effect Washington and his people, but it affected our nation. In the year 1794, things took a turning for the worse. Washington organized 12,950 men and moved towards Western Philadelphia. It was signed in San Lorenzo El Escorial on October 27, 1795. One reason how it got its name was from a man named Thomas Pinckney. He helped bring together the both to form this document.
     I chose an example of the Treaty of San Lorenzo because it represents the negotiations between the two. By showing this, it explains how these negation will happen and why it was created.
     If the treaty was never created it would be likely that the U.S. and Spain would still be in dispute. Which is something that would put our nation in a lot of stress. The reason I chose the John Adam Election Button was because there was voting going on and it represent John Adams. The Pinckney would receive more vote than Adams and then would be elected as the president. 
       The two political got pretty nasty with each other in the campaign. John Adam go with the most voted candidate. The election of 1796 was the first in which the voter could choose between the political parties. Adam had 71 vote and Jefferson had 68 vote so Jefferson was voted as the vice president. 
    John Adam was born on October 30, 1735. Adam was elected as the federalist nonmine president.  The people that was involved in the election was John Adam, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and Thus Pinckey.

 This is a very important artifact because it describes the difficulties that France and the U.S. faced. This was a very challenging thing for both to face. Leading to harassment and even captures. After a two year unsolved war, the French and the U.S. we're able to solve this uproar with the helpf of the British.
