1. Make a fire. Night in the Sahara Desert can drop below the freezing temperature, so warmth would be very essential to survive.
2. Don’t drink from the cactus. The water inside a cactus is toxic to the human body, and it would kill you faster than dehydration.
3. Keep your clothes on. Under the hot sun, taking your clothes off might seem like a good idea, but it would only speed up the process of dehydration and sunburn.
4. Stay on high ground. Flash floods can fill up a canyon faster than you can say “pneumono-ultramicroscopic-silico-volcano-coniosis”. Drowning kills more people in the desert than dehydration.

5. Bring camels. Your best chance of surviving the Sahara Desert’s ruthleess heat and sand is to bring camels. Camels offer the best transportation when in the desert.
6. Bring plenty of water. The more you sweat, the more water leaves your body, causing dehydration to occur.
7. Sandstorms are possible. When in this particular situation, find shelter of a large boulder and fully cover yourself to avoid sand entering your lungs and eyes.
8. Watch where you sit. Sitting in direct sunlight or on the ground can increase your chances of dehydrating. Desert grounds are aproximately 30F degrees hotter than the air around you.

9. Keep your cool. When in a situation, such as a flash flood or dust storm, do not panic, as panicing may cause fatigue.
10. Keep your mouth shut. When traveling through the desert, move slowly and don’t talk. Talking or opening your mouth would speed up the process of dehydration.
11. Be prepared for emergencies. Just in case, have a first aid kit within reach and bring more supplies than you need. The more the merrier.
12. Dress appropriately. Cover your whole body with clothes and wear proper headwear. Use sunglasses and lip-gloss to benefit personal health.
