As some of you may be aware, in the first lockdown I bought myself a mini wax machine to keep up the appearance (as one does) and to tame my wild brows. Well that didn't end well as I ended up losing half of one brow (that's another story for another day). You'd think I would have learnt from that experience... Well not me, I mean why would I?
On the weekend I just had enough of the state of my hair and asked Graham to give it a little trim, like just the ends. So with confidence I washed and treated my hair and as I got the hair scissors ready I called for him to get started.
The point where he flattened my hair and I felt the scissors scrape along my back should really have made me stop the process but again, why would I? I mean he couldn't get it that wrong, could he???
Oh how wrong was I, the telling sign was when Elektra walked in and just went "Oh my", it was only at that point I thought "oh hells bells, what has gone on?" Elektra swiftly got her phone out (as any teenager would) and started snapping, that is when she highlighted the damage... I think he mistook the scissors for garden shears, my hair was hacked, or as Graham put it, "it has layers".

I am a summer music festival addict, lol having come to music festivals later in life and after I achieved freedom from a rather controlling husband. All through the first lockdown I flatly refused to believe my fav festival, Lattitude, would be cancelled, I even began piling up the stuff we would need, arranging pet sitters and avidly studying the bands to make sure I fitted every band in...of course the festi was cancelled, I should have accepted that as my friends did, moral of the story...I had such a lot of work putting everything away again! Even funnier, here I am again planning to go to Lattitude, refusing to accept the inevitable that I won't be seeing my fav band because realistically, the lockdown tiers aren't going to be finished by the end of July. So, I am accepting it. I shall plan a mini (however many person we're allowed) festi in the garden and enjoy because life is too short to do anything but.

So back in November myself, and our reps, attended the Eastleigh Youth Conference online. We were based in a classroom onsite, however were virtually meeting with all of the schools and colleges across the area. We had just entered a drugs awareness session, and the man hosting it was having a chat with some students about his pet pigs as we entered the session. with the students asking their names. All was well until he mentioned that he hadn’t been shopping and had sacrificed one little pig for his dinner. Obviously everyone thought this was a joke, until he really started going into how he butchers his pigs.... Me and the reps were all looking at each other horrified – and I blurted out “OMG how can he give those babies names and then cook them because he forgot to do his weekly shop, how heartless, its like cooking your pet cat!!” the reps were all laughing and I continued to rant about the man who kills his pet pigs. Then one of the girls got my attention and was laughing and shaking her head and pointing to the computer – turns out I had forgotten to mute my mic and the man had heard everything! I then was super embarrassed and pretended I was vegetarian as a way to get out of the awkward conversation I had started with the drugs man........

Safe to say the reps won’t let me forget this....

Last Easter there was a management conference for all managers at College. We were all new to working remotely (that's my defence). We attended a meeting with Paul C. which consisted of slides with him talking through them on Teams. I was busy listening but also trying to find out what happened when you clicked the three dots, how to change the background etc. There was then an awkward pause and then the words "Um, Siân, I think you've taken over the meeting". This then became a familiar refrain when anything went wrong over the next few days. Natasha also recalls my quacking text sound through the meetings which went off every time she texted me a comment on the proceedings.

So I'm working in my little office space in the kitchen, working away singing along to some ABBA (as you do). Well I didn't realise that not only was Amelia still in a zoom lesson in the next room, but she'd taken herself off mute to speak to the teacher. Next thing I hear is a lovely primary school teacher, sounding very amused, telling the class "oh I think Amelia's mummy is teaching a music lesson". At least I entertained the children :)
