Last year, during my internship, I had problems with the memorization of new words by pupils. It was very difficult for some pupils to memorize the words. They would forget the words that they memorized today in the next lesson. After the internship, I had the same challenge with my students at the education center. I was curious as to why this was happening.

At school I taught 5th graders. The main reason why they cannot memorize the words may be that they have no interest in English language. The next reason may be that I just let them write the words on paper. It may have been boring for them because I didn't do any activities or I didn't try to use the pictures of the words and visual objects.

But the pupils' interest in the educational reason cannot be the reason. Because a student who has no interest in English will not pay the money to study at the educational center. I think the main reason for the issue is the lack of effective activities.

The reason why I researched this topic is that if students learn grammar well but have a limited vocabulary, it will lead to a decrease in speaking ability. It will be difficult for them to express their thoughts fully and well. That's why, I chose this topic to solve this problem. Because speaking plays a key role in language acquisition.

Learning and remembering new words can be difficult for language learners, as words learned today are often forgotten within days. I observed that my students often faced challenges in remembering vocabulary, not knowing effective ways to practice, and losing interest in traditional memorization methods. In this presentation, drawing on insights from my exploratory action research, I will discuss effective techniques to enhance vocabulary retention, including the use of visual aids, contextual learning, engaging activities, and mnemonic devices. I will talk about how these strategies can be applied to create engaging and collaborative learning environments, highlighting the positive impact of techniques such as group work and peer support in making vocabulary learning more effective and enjoyable.

I have tried some methods and activities to make the students more interested in the lesson. I conducted a survey among 10 students to see if they liked them. Almost all students answered the questions positively. For the first question, 7 students liked the activities, 2 students said ''quiet'' and a student didn't like them. It can be seen that the activities helped the pupils to memorize the new words. For the next question, 4 students faced the difficulty with time management, another 4 students had difficulty with learning by heart the words, and the others had other difficulties while doing activities. According to the results of the third question, a student thinks that I should change the activities, another student thinks that I don't have to change them, and the others said that some more activities should be added. All in all, my methods and the activities that I used were beneficial for them.

I asked my colleague to monitor my lesson, pay attention to the students and write down his thoughts and answer the questions while I was doing vocabulary activities with my students. He thought that my method was useful for remembering the words. I liked his answer when he was asked whether he noticed something new while they were doing activities or not. He said that the participants were of various ages, some were schoolchildren, and some were university students. University students remembered the new words better and faster than schoolchildren. He expressed his opinion that all the activities were good and that some easier activities should be added. So, I should add another activity that is suitable for everyone's level. That's when it becomes easy and interesting for everyone to remember new words.

I learned a lot through this research. In addition to teaching how to learn new words, I learned how to work with students properly and how to interact with them. Until now, if students did not learn the words, I would punish them. As a result, both I and the students would have difficulties. There were times when some students left my course because they did not want to study. After I started using these methods, the students' interest in the lesson changed. In the future, I will continue my teaching profession. I want to use these methods in the future and continue to learn easy and interesting ways to memorize words.
