This assignment allowed me to compile my own personal assessment tool for the intake of new patients within the counseling setting. Through learning, researching, and observing intake processes, I was able to create a functional tool that can be used in a clinical setting. This document allows me to organize foundational information which aids in the development of treatment planning and intervention utilization. This document also allows for questions to develop which could lead to the identification of potential abuse (physical, sexual, emotions, etc.) and broader relationship analysis to aid in the identification of appropriate resources.

This assignment allowed students to think creatively about their future goals and aspirations with the helping professions (social work, counseling, behavioral health, etc.). This assignment allowed me to utilize resources from my current place of employment and to effectively think about future plans for my role within this organization. This assignment also allowed for inquiry into the interdisciplinary approaches to social service organizations and the potential for intersection with law enforcement. I use research from police organizations to justify the development of a Crisis Intervention Specialist position, a masters-level clinician, for juvenile delinquency and treatment agencies.

This Disposition assignment allowed me to reflect on professional standards of the ASU Mental Health & Wellness Counseling program. This assignment allowed me to research closer into the ACA's Code of Ethics and build connections between the standards for our program and the professional/ethical standards for the helping professions. Through this assignment, creativity allowed for a personal expression of professional presentation and build connections between academic and occupational standards.

Within the Intro to School and Community Counseling course at ASU, I was able to complete a complex Community Needs Assessment. This assessment led me to discover the fact that no major organizations were present in my region dedicated to the aid of human trafficking victims. In this assignment, students were asked to create a presentation for the potential development of new programs at our current place of work. George Junior Republic in PA, my current employer, serves juvenile males struggling with psychiatric or conduct needs as well as adults serving time in the justice system. This program would expand opportunities for funding and partnership while filling a gap in the needs of the greater community.

The "Personal Theory" assignment allowed for a variety of objectives to be met. One of importance was that of a comprehensive understanding of a particular counseling theory explored within the Theories of Counseling course. Through this exploration, students could learn to identify counseling methodologies and theories that they can personal identify with. I found this assignment enlightening and helped to create a stronger sense of professional identity within the counseling field. Through this analysis of the self, I identified a theory to explore and use in my own work as a counselor in the future.

This assignment allowed students to develop a group for a specific topic of our choosing. Through this assignment, I was able to research and build curriculum for the utilization of bibliotherapy in group contexts. Curriculum design could be a useful skills not only for those wanting to go on to careers in higher education but also those who may be the first in their position at an organization. This assignment also allowed students to create a group cycle in alignment with the American School Counseling Association standards to justify the practices developed.

This assignment allowed students to create an event that has it's roots in human development theories. I specifically wanted to tie my passion for higher education to the counseling profession and thus this mini-"group" was developed. Through the connection of human develop theory, I wanted to focus on a population that higher education institutions primarily do not focus their student life programming, graduate students. Through this assignment, a general program for these students has a foundation for future use.

This assignment from my Individual Counseling course gave great opportunity to observe a variety of individual counseling sessions utilizing multiple approaches to the field. In this assignment, students evaluated and reflected on the use of various counseling skills used within a specific session. This assignment allowed for me to not just research different techniques for counseling sessions but, specific for my video observation, see how they may be used with younger clients. As one who works with adolescents, I could have clients younger in age or developmental ability. This assignment helped in understanding how to work with this specific population.

This assignment was one of the most beneficial in my entire MA in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling program. In this research and data collection assignment, students were required to define and describe a variety of mental health diagnoses. Through scholarly resources, I learned about to identify these diagnoses and study early intervention strategies or warning signs. I created this functional guide that can be a useful tool in the identification of mental health concerns in clients and additional resources for both myself as the clinician and the client for educational purposes.

I would like to become either a collegiate educator for psychological science and/or a masters-clinician aiding in the rehabilitation of young people struggling with trauma or mental health concerns. Angelo State University gave me the foundations to become a contributing ethical decision maker in the field and has benefited my passion for the helping professions.
