During her poem she states, "I bruise easily is one of the lies she sprinkled like sugar" (Grimes 15). His poem made me understand his pain and made me feel like it was true pain. The quote, "I'd wait uncomfortably between the lines of my own story" (Grimes 22) shows that he was afraid to be who he wanted to be, and it shows the struggle that a lot of kids face on a day to day basis. As a teenager I feel like this is something bigger to me because I am at the age where I see it happen all the time.
