The called fake news seems to be a recent phenomenon, however this type of practice in dealing with information is older than it seems, after all, the popular saying "who tells a story increases a point", what would gossip be? The sensationalist headlines on TV news? Wouldn't that also be fake news? Currently, with the advancement of technology and the emergence of social networks, information circulates in decentralized networks, much of this information may be true but depending on the bias of some, it may be false. However, clearly false news is disseminated on the networks, directly influencing the behavior of society. What do you think about this matter?

I do not think this is a phenomenon that will ever cease to exist, because we are human beings, shaped by certain ideologies and personal interests that frame our perspective onto things. As our communication highly depends on interpretation, misunderstandings are a natural result of linguistic interaction.

However, I think that the law should be enforced in order to prevent us from getting out of hand. We know that mass media manipulation is the strongest source of power, therefore, fake news cannot be considered as simple and organic cases of miscomunication.

The virtual era is still a recent discovery to us, which means that we don't quite know how to manage it yet. In addition, it also has mutiplied the number of people spreading false information everywhere. Nonetheless, the internet provides programmers the possibility of creating algorithms that could track fake news and, most importantly, refute them much faster than a few decades ago. In time, I believe things like that will be at least a bit mitigated.
