Media is the tool with which society interacts within todays digital community. Wright (2003) outlines that through music we express who we are in ways words cannot, and in todays digital community social media is the tool we use to share our expressions of self. The "social media video" is a montage of the different posts I have shared to my social media accounts over 2017.
With regards to Ryan and Healy (2008), social media ticks many of the boxes they have set in their table, with social media becoming a computer generated art form that is an integral aspect of everyday life. With updates and new forms of media constantly hitting the market, society is evolving through experimentation with new designs and methods of sharing (Ryan & Healy, 2008).
Digital media has become an invaluable aspect of the modern community, as evident in this very assignment where we are creating a poster in digital media rather than using the more traditional and historical artistic method of drawing on a cardboard cut out. Through this, I have further evolved my poster to utilise digital videos and compilations of images. this interpretation is only possible due to technological developments in digital media as an art form.

My time dancing is somewhat limited; with my experience ranging from mucking around at home, to time spent on a night out, and the yearly High School P.E. units of work. Some of these skills I have repurposed into my sporting life, “Driving through the Grapevine.” This is one element that Ryan and Healy (2008) identify with creative arts under "applying appropriately", in that you can utilise the skills you have picked up in arts like dance and use them in seemingly unrelated aspects of your life. I feel I agree with this sentiment, and it is one reason in particular the arts are one of the most diverse subjects within the curriculum.

Music, as with many arts, is about personal expression, and in modern times that personal expression has expanded from the traditional European composition of symphonies to the construction of Spotify playlists. Wright (2003) describes this expression as a way of communicating who we are in ways words cannot.
My history in music sits on this spectrum, with my experience ranging from "the known" to "the new" (Ryan & Healy, 2008). As shown in "my music video", I play the guitar, or try to. During my time playing I have adapted many songs to my style and composed some of my own, "creatively applying" many computerised effects along the way such as Amplifiers, loop peddle and drum machines (Ryan & Healy, 2008).
During my time in High School, I undertook music as an elective subject and completed year 11 music. Over this period I developed an appreciation for the theory behind music; the time, the rhythm, the tone, the language of music and many other aspects. As Ryan & Healy (2008) outline, these theories are instrumental for analysing music critically and functionally - pun intended.

Drama

I have always been a somewhat dramatic person, and my experience in studying drama at school through years nine and ten has allowed me to be able to utilise these personal traits in every day life and at university, as shown in the "puppetry" video. Through my junior high school drama years, I was lucky enough to have an excursion to the Sydney Theatre and witness the play Wicked. From this experience, I saw first hand how the elements of lighting and stage position complement a good actors use of body language and oral delivery. These traits are also relevant to the profession of teaching, during which the teacher will need to take centre stage and implement positive body language and fluent, strong speech everyday (Ryan & Healy, 2008).
Music and Media Arts are particular evident in the aspects of adult life, Dunn (2003) outlines the drama is particularly manifested in the make-believe play and socialising in early childhood. Dunn (2003) identifies that this play does not continue as children approach high school, however I would argue that even just messing around at home pretending to be someone or something else is still invoking elements of drama, and this is something I think most adolescents and adults do from time to time. An example of this can be found in "Risky Business Dance Off" (Glam, 2016) - it should be noted that this is also a good example for the relevance of dance in everyday life (Ryan & Healy, 2008).

Whilst my drawing, sculpting and painting skills are rather lacking, I do appreciate all different formats of Visual Art - as can be seen by "The Visual Art in my Home". Whether it be a prop, a sculpture, a poster, or something else, I find it is a positive influence to have different pieces scattered through the house. For me, each one of these pieces has a meaning to me, whether it be the Star Wars and Doctor Who collections representing my favourite films, the Broken Hill minerals and the Murray River whistle that remind me of my journeys, the globes reminding me of the larger global community, my place in it and the palaces I want to see, or the different pieces representing my family, home and country. From a Ryan and Healy (2008) perspective, you could say that these pieces and their depiction penetrate my everyday life.
