"In 1911 Andrew Carnegie established Carnegie Corporation of New York . . ." This corporation was established to offer a wide variety of institutions and was the most technologically innovative early steel companies in America. Andrew Carnegie started his steel company when he was still working as a superintendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Carnegie invested with Edgar Thomson and eventually bought Thomson's company from him. Carnegie became so wealthy that he bought and invested in other companies and became a philanthropist who later went on to establish other buildings and foundations.
https://www.carnegie.org/interactives/foundersstory/#!/

After establishing the Carnegie Corporation of New York, which was dedicated to "advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding," Carnegie went on to use the rest of his fortune to promote education and peace. "Carnegie eventually gave away some $350 million, which represented the bulk of his wealth. He funded the establishment of more than 2,500 public libraries around the globe, donated more than 7,600 organs to churches worldwide and endowed organizations dedicated to research in science, education, world peace and other causes. Among his gifts was the $1.1 million required for the land and construction costs of Carnegie Hall, the legendary New York City concert venue that opened in 1891.
http://www.history.com/topics/andrew-carnegie

I believe that although Andrew Carnegie dealt with some of his problems such as the over throw of his company in the anecdote above in unconventional ways, I believe that he is not a Robber Baron because he planned on retiring around he age of 30 and spending all his money on other businesses and developments such as schools and libraries before he died. His contributions were all very noble.
