Oggi abbiamo visitato la scuola, dove ho imparato molte cose davvero interessanti.

Le lezioni durano solo 45 minuti e tra una lezione e l'altra gli studenti hanno una pausa di 10 minuti.

Durante queste pause hanno molta libertà: possono giocare a ping pong o a calcio balilla e trascorrere del tempo con i loro amici. Dopo le lezioni possono rimanere a scuola e utilizzare la palestra o l'aula dedicata alla produzione musicale, che nella nostra scuola non abbiamo. Inoltre, vengono proposti corsi davvero interessanti e specializzati, come il giardinaggio, la fotografia e persino l'addestramento militare.

Un'altra caratteristica molto piacevole delle scuole polacche è che nei corridoi viene diffusa della musica. Abbiamo scoperto tutto questo parlando con gli studenti, che sono stati davvero accoglienti e gentili con noi. Abbiamo pranzato insieme ad alcuni di loro e abbiamo persino trascorso la serata in loro compagnia. Alla fine della giornata mi è sembrato di aver trovato dei nuovi amici.

Today we visited the school, where I learned some really interesting things. The lessons only last 45 minutes, and students have 10-minute breaks between classes.

During these breaks, they have a lot of freedom: they can play table tennis or table Football and spend time with their friends.

After lessons, they can stay at school and use the gym or the music production room, which we don't have in our school. They also offer some really interesting and specialized classes, such as gardening, photography, and even military training.

Another nice feature of Polish schools is that they play music in the hallways. We discovered all of this by talking to the students, who were really welcoming and kind to

us. We had lunch with some of them and even spent the evening together. By the end of the day, I felt like I had made some new friends.

The students warmly welcomed us and kindly guided us on a tour of the school. We visited many classrooms and workshops dedicated to the different study programmes

offered by the school.

Surprise: I met and greeted the Erasmus students who had come to Italy last November. It was a really nice and unexpected reunion.

Oggi è stato il nostro primo giorno di scuola a Zabrze e abbiamo ricevuto un'accoglienza davvero calorosa.

Abbiamo iniziato la giornata partecipando a un'escape game in lingua inglese insieme agli studenti polacchi e portoghesi. Successivamente, abbiamo visitato la scuola accompagnati da studenti e insegnanti.

Abbiamo scoperto che la scuola offre molti indirizzi e attività interessanti, come giardinaggio, botanica e fotografia. Dispone inoltre di classi a indirizzo militare, di una palestra e persino di uno studio per la registrazione di musica o podcast, che mi ha davvero colpito.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto sorpreso dalla musica diffusa durante gli intervalli e dallo studio di registrazione presente nella scuola.

Today was our first day at school in Zabrze, and we received a very warm welcome.

We started the day with an English escape game together with Polish and Portuguese students. After that, we went on a tour of the school, guided by both students and

teachers.

We discovered that the school offers many interesting subjects, such as gardening, botany, and photography. They also have military classes, a gym, and even a room for

recording music or podcasts, which I found really impressive.

Surprise: I was surprised by the music playing during the breaks and by the school recording room.

Oggi abbiamo esplorato la città di Cracovia. Prima di tutto, la nostra insegnante ci ha spiegato la storia della città davanti alla Porta di San Floriano e successivamente ci ha guidati per la città, fornendoci informazioni su tutti i luoghi che abbiamo visitato.

Abbiamo visto la Piazza del Mercato principale, ammirato molti dipinti storici e ascoltato il famoso segnale di tromba dalla torre. Lì abbiamo comprato alcuni souvenir, tra cui peluche coordinati a forma di drago.

Dopo pranzo siamo andati al castello e lo abbiamo esplorato da cima a fondo, visitando cappelle, tombe e molti altri luoghi affascinanti. Abbiamo anche visto l’iconica statua del drago che sputa fuoco dalla bocca.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto colpito dall’elevato numero di ritratti reali e dalla tradizione del segnale di tromba. Entrambi mi hanno permesso di conoscere meglio la storia e la cultura di Cracovia.

Today we explored the city of Krakow. First of all, our teacher explained the history of the city in front of St. Florian’s Gate, and later she guided us around the city, giving us information about all the places we visited.

We visited the Main Market Square, saw many historical paintings, and listened to the famous trumpet call from the tower. There, we bought some souvenirs, including matching dragon stuffed animals.

After lunch, we went to the castle and explored it from top to bottom, visiting chapels, tombs, and many other fascinating places. We even got to see the iconic dragon statue breathing fire from its mouth.

Surprise: I was surprised by the large number of royal portraits and by the tradition of the trumpet call. Both helped me learn more about the history and culture of Krakow.

Questa galleria ospita una collezione d'arte polacca che, a mio avviso, appartiene al Romanticismo e al Realismo. Le sale principali espongono grandi dipinti storici e paesaggi che riflettono l’identità nazionale della Polonia durante il XIX secolo.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto particolarmente colpito nel trovare opere che ricordano lo stile dei Macchiaioli. Alcuni dipinti utilizzano macchie di colore e giochi di luce invece di linee rigide, catturando un’atmosfera spontanea. Questo inaspettato collegamento con il movimento toscano ha reso la collezione molto più familiare e moderna.

This gallery has a collection of Polish art that I think belongs to Romanticism and Realism. The Grand Rooms showcase monumental historical paintings and landscapes that reflect Poland’s national identity during the 19th century.

Surprise: I was particularly surprised to find works that resemble the Macchiaioli style. Some paintings use patches of color and light rather than rigid lines, capturing a spontaneous atmosphere. This unexpected connection to the Tuscan movement made the collection feel much more familiar and modern.

Cracovia è una città ricca di storia e, ovunque ci si giri, si è immersi nella cultura polacca. La città è piuttosto pulita e piena di verde. Il cibo è buono e passeggiare è molto piacevole, accompagnati da splendidi panorami e da un senso di tranquillità. Ci sono molte piste ciclabili che incentivano le persone a ridurre l’inquinamento utilizzando mezzi di trasporto non alimentati a benzina.

L’arte è affascinante e riflette profondamente l’atmosfera della città, con numerosi riferimenti ai suoi paesaggi e alla sua storia.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto sorpreso nel vedere le targhe verdi delle auto elettriche, che evidenziano la differenza rispetto ai veicoli a benzina. L’arte polacca del XIX secolo è affascinante e spesso raffigura paesaggi che catturano l’attenzione dell’osservatore. È stato anche interessante notare che la città è piena di carrozze trainate da cavalli, decorate con finimenti dai colori vivaci. La statua del drago Smok è molto impressionante e, con nostra sorpresa, sputa fuoco!

Krakow is a city steeped in history, and wherever you turn, you are immersed in Polish culture. The city is fairly clean and full of greenery. The food is good, and walking around is very pleasant, accompanied by beautiful views and a sense of peace. There are many bike paths, encouraging people to reduce pollution by using non–gasoline-powered transport.

The art is fascinating and closely reflects the atmosphere of the city, with many references to its landscapes and history.

Surprise: I was surprised to see green license plates for electric cars, highlighting the difference between them and gasoline-powered vehicles. Nineteenth-century Polish art is fascinating, often depicting landscapes that capture the viewer’s attention. It was also interesting to notice that the city is full of horse-drawn carriages decorated with brightly colored harnesses. The statue of the dragon Smok is very impressive and, to our surprise, it breathes fire!

Oggi la nostra visita è iniziata accanto alla Porta di San Floriano (Brama Floriańska), che fa parte delle fortificazioni della città ed era un tempo l’ingresso principale di Cracovia, oltre che l’unico ancora rimasto. Proprio di fronte si trova il Barbican, un’altra fortificazione collegata alla Porta di San Floriano e progettata per difendere la città dagli attacchi esterni.

Sorpresa: ciò che ho trovato più interessante è il modello tattile che rappresenta questi due edifici, situato proprio accanto ad essi. Ho visto qualcosa di simile solo poche volte e quasi mai in Italia. Penso che possa essere molto coinvolgente e anche utile per le persone non vedenti.

Today our tour began next to St. Florian’s Gate (Brama Floriańska), which is part of the city’s fortifications and was once the main entrance to Krakow, as well as the only one still remaining. Right in front of it there is the Barbican, another fortification connected to St. Florian’s Gate and designed to defend the city from external attacks.

Surprise: What I found most interesting is the tactile model representing these two buildings, located right next to them. I have only seen something like this a few times, and rarely in Italy. I think it can be very engaging and also useful for blind people.

Oggi è stato dedicato alla scoperta di Cracovia. Siamo entrati nella Città Vecchia attraverso la Porta di San Floriano e abbiamo camminato verso la Piazza del Mercato (Rynek Główny), dove abbiamo visto la famosa Basilica di Santa Maria e ascoltato il segnale di tromba dalla torre.

Abbiamo visitato il Castello Reale del Wawel e la Cattedrale, salendo anche fino a vedere le campane storiche. Un momento saliente è stato sicuramente la statua del drago del Wawel, che tradizionalmente sputa fuoco vero ogni 15 minuti!

Sorpresa: ho apprezzato molto la cultura dello street food in questa città. Abbiamo assaggiato i pączki (deliziosi bomboloni polacchi), gli obwarzanki (simili ai pretzel) e a pranzo ho mangiato una zapiekanka, una grande e gustosa baguette tostata farcita. Abbiamo anche comprato un piccolo peluche a forma di drago come souvenir. L’atmosfera della città è incredibile, perché unisce la storia a un’energia molto vivace. Salire in cima alla torre delle campane e vedere la città dall’alto è stato il modo perfetto per concludere la nostra visita.

Today was dedicated to discovering Krakow. We entered the Old Town through St. Florian’s Gate and walked towards the Main Market Square (Rynek Główny), where we saw the famous St. Mary’s Basilica and listened to the trumpet signal from the tower.

We visited Wawel Royal Castle and the Cathedral, even climbing up to see the historic bells. A highlight was definitely the Wawel Dragon statue, which traditionally breathes real fire every 15 minutes!

Surprise: I really appreciated the street food culture here. We tried pączki (delicious Polish doughnuts), obwarzanki (similar to pretzels), and for lunch I had a zapiekanka, a huge and tasty open-faced toasted baguette. We also bought a small dragon plushie as a souvenir. The atmosphere in the city is incredible, blending history with a very lively energy. Reaching the top of the bell tower and seeing the city from above was the perfect way to end our tour.

Oggi abbiamo fatto una visita della città di Katowice. Siamo arrivati al mattino e abbiamo visitato la chiesa neogotica dell’Immacolata Vergine Maria. Successivamente abbiamo pranzato in un ristorante tradizionale polacco, dove abbiamo gustato alcuni piatti locali.

Nel pomeriggio abbiamo visitato un museo dedicato alla storia della Slesia, situato all’interno di un’ex miniera di carbone. Abbiamo inoltre visto il famoso Spodek, l’iconico edificio a forma di disco volante, uno dei simboli più riconoscibili della città.

Sorpresa: dopo la visita alla chiesa neogotica, ho avuto un vero assaggio di Katowice pranzando in un ristorante locale molto frequentato. Tuttavia, la parte più sorprendente è stata il contrasto industriale: esplorare un museo ospitato in una miniera e poi ammirare lo Spodek, l’iconico edificio a forma di disco volante della città.

Today we took a city tour of Katowice. We arrived in the morning and visited the neo-Gothic Church of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. We then had lunch at a traditional Polish restaurant, where we enjoyed some local dishes.

Later, we visited a museum about the history of Silesia, located inside a former coal mine. We also saw the famous Spodek, the iconic flying saucer-shaped building that is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.

Surprise: After visiting the neo-Gothic church, I got a true taste of Katowice by having lunch in a popular local restaurant. The most surprising part, however, was the industrial contrast: exploring a museum housed inside a mine and then admiring the Spodek, the city's iconic flying saucer-shaped building.

Il Museo della Slesia è molto coinvolgente! Ci sono molte ricostruzioni di ambienti, stanze e scene di vita quotidiana. La storia della Slesia, come ci ha spiegato la nostra guida, inizia con i reperti archeologici risalenti al periodo precedente alla nascita di Cristo e arriva fino ai giorni nostri.

La guida ha concluso la visita ponendoci una domanda sul ruolo futuro della Slesia, lasciandoci uno spunto di riflessione interessante.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto colpito dalla presenza di dipinti realizzati da artisti non professionisti che lavoravano nelle miniere. Queste opere ci hanno aiutato a comprendere meglio il loro punto di vista e hanno offerto una prospettiva unica sugli eventi e sulle esperienze di cui abbiamo parlato.

The Silesian Museum is very engaging! There are many reconstructions of environments, rooms, and everyday scenes. The history of Silesia, as explained by our guide, begins with archaeological finds dating back to the period before the birth of Christ and continues all the way to the present day.

The guide ended the visit by asking us a question about the future role of Silesia, which gave us something interesting to think about.

Surprise: I was surprised by the presence of paintings created by non-professional artists who worked in the mines. They helped us better understand their point of view and offered a unique perspective on the events and experiences we were learning about.

Il cibo era davvero buono e piuttosto economico. La città era molto interessante e bella, soprattutto le chiese e i dipinti.

The food was really good and pretty cheap. The city was really cool and beautiful, especially the churches and the paintings.

Surprise: I was surprised by the history of Silesia. It is fascinating. I was excited to learn that Zbigniew Wodecki was the creator of the theme song for Maya the Bee. It was fantastic news! I was also fascinated by the sculpture and the mural dedicated to him.

Gli studenti polacchi sono stati molto gentili e creativi! L’idea di trasformare ogni aula in un paese diverso è stata davvero originale e divertente. Abbiamo avuto la possibilità di assaggiare piatti nuovi provenienti da tutto il mondo e mi sono piaciuti molto!

Abbiamo anche visitato una miniera di carbone e abbiamo imparato qualcosa sulla vita quotidiana dei minatori. È stata un’esperienza molto interessante che ci ha permesso di comprendere meglio il loro lavoro e le difficoltà che affrontavano.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto sorpreso da quanto possa essere interessante una miniera. Camminarci dentro, sapendo di essere a 320 metri sotto terra, è allo stesso tempo un po’ spaventoso e affascinante. Imparare qualcosa sui minatori e su ciò che facevano è stato molto interessante e personalmente mi è piaciuto molto.

The Polish students were very kind and creative! The idea of transforming each classroom into a different country was super cool and fun. We had the chance to try new dishes from around the world, and I really enjoyed them!

We also visited a coal mine and learned about the daily life of miners. It was a very interesting experience and gave us a better understanding of their work and the challenges they faced.

Surprise: I was surprised by how interesting a mine can be. Walking through it, knowing that you are 320 meters underground, is both pretty scary and fascinating at the same time. Learning about the miners and what they used to do was very interesting, and I personally enjoyed it a lot.

Oggi abbiamo visitato la miniera Guido a Zabrze ed è stato molto interessante scoprire le condizioni in cui lavoravano i minatori. Abbiamo visto quanto fosse difficile e pericoloso il loro lavoro, e questo ci ha fatto apprezzare ancora di più il loro impegno.

A scuola abbiamo anche partecipato a una giornata speciale organizzata dagli studenti. Gli studenti erano divisi in diverse aule e ogni stanza presentava qualcosa di tipico di un paese diverso, come il Brasile, la Gran Bretagna e anche l’Italia! È stata un’esperienza divertente ed educativa.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto sorpreso dalle dure condizioni in cui lavoravano i minatori e dagli strumenti che utilizzavano ogni giorno.

Today we visited the Guido Mine in Zabrze, and it was very interesting to learn about the conditions in which the miners worked. We discovered how difficult and dangerous their job was, and this made us appreciate their hard work even more.

At school, we also took part in a special day organized by the students. They were divided into different classrooms, and each room presented something typical from a different country, such as Brazil, Britain, and also Italy! It was a fun and educational experience.

Surprise: I was surprised by the harsh conditions in which the miners worked and by the tools they used every day.

Era il nostro ultimo giorno e abbiamo iniziato con un workshop durante il quale abbiamo visto alcuni progetti e persino delle auto costruite dagli studenti nel loro laboratorio tecnico. Successivamente siamo tornati a scuola per alcune attività sportive. Abbiamo giocato delle partite di pallavolo contro gli studenti polacchi. Erano molto preparati, quindi abbiamo perso tutti e tre i set, ma l’ultimo è stato una vera battaglia!

Poi abbiamo giocato una partita di calcio. Anche se abbiamo perso di nuovo, abbiamo disputato una bella partita. Dopo è arrivato il momento dei saluti. È stato un po’ triste perché avevamo davvero iniziato a creare un legame con tutti.

La sera, tornati all’ostello, abbiamo avuto un ultimo incontro per discutere del progetto e poi abbiamo partecipato alla cerimonia in cui abbiamo ricevuto i certificati. Dopo questa splendida esperienza, siamo diventati ufficialmente Ambasciatori Europei!

Sorpresa: sono rimasto sorpreso da quanto sia stato difficile dire addio. In una sola settimana siamo passati dall’essere sconosciuti a diventare un gruppo molto unito. Ho capito che questo progetto era molto più di un semplice viaggio; era un modo per entrare in contatto con persone provenienti da tutto il mondo.

It was our last day, and we started with a workshop where we saw some projects and even cars built by the students in their technical lab. After that, we headed back to school for some sports activities. We played volleyball matches against the Polish students. They were really well-prepared, so we lost all three rounds, but the last one was a real battle!

Then we played a soccer match. Even though we lost again, we played a great game. After that, it was time to say goodbye. It was a bit sad because we had really started to bond with everyone.

In the evening, back at the hostel, we had a final meeting to discuss the project, and then we attended the ceremony where we received our certificates. After this great experience, we have officially become European Ambassadors!

Surprise: I was surprised by how hard it was to say goodbye. In just one week, we went from being strangers to becoming a close-knit group. I realized that this project was about much more than just a trip; it was about connecting with people from all over the world.

Oggi siamo andati a scuola per giocare una partita di pallavolo. Gli studenti polacchi sono stati molto cordiali e anche chi non ha giocato alla partita ha avuto la possibilità di conoscere meglio alcuni studenti.

Poi abbiamo incontrato il loro allenatore, che non parlava inglese ma solo polacco, e in qualche modo siamo comunque riusciti a capirci. A scuola c’era anche un open day, quindi abbiamo visitato alcune aule e provato alcune delle attività organizzate.

Dopo siamo andati in centro città, dove abbiamo pranzato con alcuni amici polacchi e visitato il centro commerciale.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto davvero colpito dal numero di persone che hanno assistito alla partita e partecipato alle attività dell’open day.

Today we went to school to play a volleyball match. The Polish students were very friendly, and even those who didn’t play in the match had the chance to get to know some of the students better.

We then met their coach, who didn’t speak English, only Polish, and somehow we still managed to understand each other. There was also an open day at the school, so we visited some of the classrooms and tried some of the activities they had organized.

After that, we went to the city center, where we had lunch with some Polish friends and visited the mall.

Surprise: I was really impressed by the number of people attending the match and taking part in the open day activities.

Oggi siamo andati alla scuola di Zabrze e abbiamo subito notato che tutti erano molto cordiali e socievoli. Successivamente quattro studenti ci hanno accompagnato in un centro commerciale, dove abbiamo scoperto che i prezzi in Polonia sono molto simili a quelli in Italia.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto colpito dalla varietà delle attività offerte nella loro scuola, come fotografia e botanica. Ho anche notato che il loro sistema scolastico è molto diverso dal nostro, soprattutto per quanto riguarda le pause e il fatto di avere un’aula diversa per ogni materia. Un’altra cosa che ho trovato interessante è che i tram hanno schermi che mostrano tutte le fermate successive.

Today we went to the school in Zabrze and immediately noticed that everyone was very friendly and sociable. Later, four students accompanied us to a shopping center, where we discovered that prices in Poland are very similar to those in Italy.

Surprise: I was surprised by the variety of activities offered at their school, such as photography and botany. I also noticed that their school system is very different from ours, especially when it comes to breaks and having a different classroom for each subject. Another thing I found interesting was that the trams have screens that show all the upcoming stops.

Oggi abbiamo disputato la grande partita Italia contro la Polonia nel campo della scuola ZCKOiZ. Abbiamo giocato una vera partita articolata in tre set. La squadra polacca era composta da studenti selezionati, anche se non dai loro giocatori più forti. Purtroppo abbiamo perso, ma non è stato davvero importante, perché ciò che contava di più era l’esperienza.

Sorpresa: sono rimasto davvero colpito dalla calorosa accoglienza degli studenti polacchi. È stato davvero un piacere giocare con loro.

Today we had the big Italy vs. Poland match at the ZCKOiZ school court. We played a real match with three sets. The Polish team was made up of selected students, although not their strongest players. Unfortunately, we lost, but that didn’t really matter because the experience was what counted most.

Surprise: I was really surprised by the warm welcome from the Polish students. It was truly a pleasure playing with them.
