Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that can cause blindness and vision loss, it is caused by damaging the optic nerve. There are multiple types of Glaucoma, the most common type is open-angle glaucoma, some of the other less common types are called angle-closure glaucoma and congenital glaucoma.
Open-angle glaucoma: the eye drainage canals become clogged over time and increase internal eye pressure damaging the optic nerve.
Angle-closure glaucoma: the drainage canals become blocked very quickly leading to a rise in eye pressure. This type of glaucoma is very rare.
Congenital glaucoma: is a type of glaucoma that only affects children between the ages of birth to the age three.
