It was a rainy day with lightning and thunder. All the animals took shelter from the storm, including Polly, a beautiful mother macaw that had not been able to fly to her nest and take care of her three eggs. Meanwhile, in the small nest, one of the eggshells began to crack. Suddenly, a beak came out of there, then the wings and finally the legs of a tiny blue macaw. Immediately Lulu felt better and stopped crying. She was very curious and vigorous so she wanted to observe what was behind them. She opened her eyes wide. While Lulu watched the forest and listened to the wind through the leaves, a hawk approached them abruptly. Polly spread her wings to protect the eggshells, but at the same time, Lulu slipped and fell on the branch below...

The branch in which she had fallen was cracking. Once more, the little Lulu felt lonely. Meanwhile, the mother macaw Polly was fighting with the hawk, she was trying to protect her family with vigor from the evil predator who was trying to steal them. The hawk gave Polly sharp pecks and hits, her legs were shaking when, suddenly, Polly make a deep yell. The hawk heard the breaking noise and, with the storm behind him, he got so scared that he flew off. Polly fell into the nest, exhausted. Then, Lulu thought, "My mother gave everything to save me from that horrible hawk; I will do the same to take care of her and of my brothers."

She spread her short little wings and flapped them with energy. For the first time, she flew. The branch broke and fell into the void, but she could finally fly! She helped her mother and brothers, and they were safe and sound together. 

  • Moral: There is nothing greater and more sacrificial than the love of a mother.
