         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>The <strong>majority leader</strong>: Selected by the majority party who helps plan party strategy, confers with other party leaders, and tries to keep members of the party in line. </li><li>The <strong>minority leader</strong>: Selected by the minority party as a spokesperson for the opposition.</li><li>The party whips: the liaison between the leadership and the rank- and- file in the legislature.</li><li><strong>LEADERSHIP IN THE SENATE</strong>: The Senate has the same basic committee structure, elected party leadership, and decentralized power as the House.
