In chapters 10-14 the war gets more intense as the national guard comes down to Idaho. Danny, the main character, is faced with a conflict of whether to help the movement or fight against it. The rebels and National guard are having more and more clashes making it more difficult for Danny to make a decision.

Currently in the novel Danny is at home and the national guard comes to his home. "A short time later, four squad cars pulled up" (Reedy 194). This reveals how tense the situation in Idaho is because they are going over to peoples homes to ask questions.

"This Idaho standoff. . . is my fault. The president wants to arrest me. Maybe I could end a lot of this chaos if i give myself up and explain what really happened" (Reedy 168). Danny believes it is his fault for most of the war but that is proven to be false because this conflict has ensued due to the actions of multiple people.

It can be predicted that because the national guard is at war with the rebels, things are likely to get more intense between them. Danny might have to make a life changing decision on whether the war continues or comes to an end for good. The rest of the novel will probably show how the war affects the characters and how politics have such a great impact on society. It is expected that the plot is going to change up and escalate even more.

So far I am not really enjoying the book but I am too far into it to give up now so I'm just going to continue reading. Some of the things I dislike about the book is how Idaho is going through a civil war which doesn't really make any sense. I also dislike the fact that the book is written in a way that makes it very difficult to understand.
