I choose animation as my field of interest because I’m fascinated to see how animators create their own world and bring it to life. The biggest inspirations and influences in me liking animation is thanks to two companies whose movies I grew up on watching. Walt Disney movies were my favourite things to watch when I was little and it hasn’t changed much. I like how they can tell you a story in a way that you can relate with the characters. The other company is a Japanese animation studio, named CoMix Wave Films. They don’t create movies that often however, the stories they create are equal in many ways to Walt Disney and their style is gorgeous and unique. As a child I always found the colours and the emotions of these characters so real and touching and it has been this inspiration that left its mark. As I grew up I knew I wanted to be able to create visual stories just as touching and personal as those that affected me as a child

The first time I seriously considered animation as a potential career path was during my UAL Level 2 Art and Design course where we explored animation alongside fine art and photography. We experimented with different types of animation; my favourites were stop-motion and hand drawn. During that year my interest grew in making my own stories and sharing it with people. I even decided to make an animation for that year’s final major project. That was when I started to get really involved with the process and in doing so began working independently with the medium.

As a child in Hungary I used to create illustrations and character designs for little stories that I created. I liked to be a visual narrator, creating stories with friends through poems, reading books and exploring mythology. However, when my family made the move to England I found myself focusing on learning English and these adventures in storytelling took a temporary backseat.

This summer went to a summer school at UEL where we were asked by London Youth to create a small animation for their new campaign called, “Dare London!”. We had three days to create it, so we had to work as a team and create our own story together fairly quickly. The client was really pleased with our work.

I believe I will do well as an animator because I am a person who can get really committed to do what they enjoy. I like to go out and study movement of people, animals and vehicles. I’m familiar with different software such as: Photoshop, ZBrush, 3dsMax and Illustrator. I have gained experience in teamwork during the recent summer school and had an opportunity to work with students from the BA animation course.

I have learnt the quality of hard-working and maturity at a young age when I joined the archery class in my school. It required me to have discipline, commitment and to be mature all the time as we were handling real weapons. During this time, I participated in competitions where I had to work with a team which helped me to develop a good communication skills and patience towards others. The most recent competition was “London Living” set by Aviva Investors for the new Belmont office in Uxbridge. As a group my class entered a collaborative piece which successfully won first prize. We created our characterized heads and put it together in a collage and it is still publically displayed in the offices.

My favourite hobby is to sit in a park or somewhere surrounded by nature and take photos and draw, observing and recording the world around me. I also like to create loose portraits and landscapes.

I speak Hungarian fluently and I’m planning to take an exam in German language. I like to learn more about different cultures and I find them fascinating. I have visited countries such as Slovakia, Austria and Spain

I would like the opportunity to continue my growth as an animator and visual creative and I believe your course would be the perfect place for me to find my full potential and help my childhood dream become a reality

I went to the open day at the end of October. The campus was quite spread out with many different buildings. The staff and the teachers seemed to be friendly and organised however the size of the rooms and the amount of equipment wasn't enough. We also, didn't have the chance to see the life drawing room. Also, they didn't have a diversity of companies to work with for life briefs which I found a bit disappointing. Also, the art shop was a bit small too.

I attended their open day in November. It was quite a journey but I liked the area. Penryn is fairly small but it's close to Falmouth which gives me a good opportunity to find a job. The rooms were fairly good in size and they had large studios with green screens and wide range of equipment that would be amazing for experimenting with visual effects. The connections with other companies and universities are wider compared to Norwich.

The campus is quiet big and in the center of the city surounded with many accomandation choices. The art block is separet from the rest of the buildings and the rooms are spacious. I had the chance to meet with only one of the techers but she seemed really euthanistic and engaged with the subject. They have more than enough room for us. Each class has also their own base room. The equipment is up to date and they have enough for everyone. Their connection is the most diverse.

Falmouth: 16th of February
The interview was fairly short itself as the teachers checked all of the aplicants portfolios beforehand. There weren't many questions asked. I was just asked to talk about some of my work and then I was given the chance to ask about the course.
Lincoln: 7th of March
This time I was there during the inspection of my work. This interview was much longer however less nerve-wracking. I think that teacher was really easy going and she also, recognized me from the openday where we were also talking quite a bit so she knew about my background and of my interest a bit already. The interview ended up with her straight telling me that she'll offer me a place.
Norwich: I withdrawn my application
I just felt like because of the lack of space and equipment I just felt like it wasn't worth of going for an interview as by the time I'd go there I already had an offer from Falmouth.
