Hi my name is Enav Shaikevits,
I found my tool- "Quizlet" on the district site of Tel-Aviv under the rubric of vocabulary activities, and created a vocabulary practice activity for the 4th grade. The activity can be used in the beginning of the lesson in order to review previously learned words or in order to teach new words, spelling and more.
The teacher needs to let each student the opportunity to answer at least one question and show patience for slow learners. after the activity is done, the teacher should praise the students for their participation. The use in class or via zoom is the same: the teacher share her/his screen and chooses the student who answers. For spelling activity the students write the words they hear in their notebooks. It can also be given as a distance learning assignment.

My name is Liron.
I created a listening comprehension activity based on a short video (a movie trailer) for the 9th grade.
First, I am going to discuss class about how our facial expressions can tell us a lot about a person's mental and emotional state. We will write together on the board a list of feelings. Then I will divide them into working groups and we will watch the video. The students will discuss the questions, write them down and will then present them to the whole class.
In case the lesson will be via zoom, the working groups will be rooms.
At the end of the class we will summarize with a short discussion about empathy and the way we can interact without so many words.

Hi everyone,
My name is Ronny Schwartz - Harel.
I simply love songs... and think it's a great tool to use when opening a lesson. In addition, it helps to easily relate to the lesson's subject.
Following is a lesson I've planned to suit the 4th grade. However, it may easily be adopted to all grades.
The lesson's subject : Body
parts.
First step: Playing the song " Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes" .
Once the song stops - ask the pupils to try and guess the lesson's subject.
Second step: Once the pupils know the lesson's subject, display a
presentation of the main body parts. Each slide would show one part (e.g - head) - first step you display the picture and second step the word, and you let the pupils repeat it (out loud). (Or - you may use other examples of presentations one may find on net).
Third step - using an interactive activity from "wordwall" website. There are many great activities to use. It can be used either on zoom
or in class (if it's in class then you can project it on screen and play with the pupils). Another option - using "liveworksheets" web - again
there are many great activities you may give your pupils.
Have fun! ( :

In class, the teacher might show the Youtube movie using the projetor. In online learning we can share the video through Zoom or send the link to the student to be watched independently. The vocabulary tasks in class might be given as a group work. In online learning it might also be give as group work using rooms in Zoom. During group work Zoom is kept open for questions only. I will go to the rooms and check how they are doing. If there is time I might dedicate 10 minutes at the end of the lesson to solve together. In class, I walk through the groups and check that they are doing fine.

I chose Quizlet as a way to teach irregular verbs in the past tense to students in the 5th or 6th grade.
I found this tool on the MOE site: https://ecat.education.gov.il/quizlet

The problem with learning irregular verbs is that you have to learn them by heart- and where's the fun in that? Using Quizlet can make it more fun and not boring for the students.

At the beginning of the class I will explain that unfortunately there are no easy rules or magical ways to learn irregular verbs. But, no need to worry- instead of sending them to a boring list of verbs from the book, we will learn the verbs using Quizlet.

At first, we will go over the Quizlet cards together. one side of the cards shows the verbs as V1 and on the other side the same verbs are shown as V2 with a picture that reveals their meaning. (I believe 5-7 verbs at each lesson are enough, only after they will master each verb, we can move on to more verbs). After that we can use the "learn" tab to answer the questions (one student at a time) and even use the "write" and "spell" tabs to work on their spelling at the same time.

It's very important to let all the students participate, even if it means repeating some verbs.

Each student will be praised after answering, whether he is wrong or right- the point is to have fun and learn in the process.

The Quizlet is also great to be used in distance learning.

We can do the same activities as described above after I share my screen with them.

What's even more fun is that they can compete with each other in distance learning when I use the Quizlet live. They can compete as individuals or as random teams.
They can also play online the "gravity" and "match" games- more fun ways to be learning with Quizlet.

Last but not least, with the Quizlet tool I can monitor the students progress.

The teacher will announce a fun activity next lesson that will be based on their homework
Wheel of Fortune game - during the lesson (can be also on-line), when the wheel stops, each participant will explain the meaning of the word and translate (or translation only), or will build a sentence with the word. The various options depend on the class' level.
The teacher should praise every correct answer. For the ones who didn't know, ask them again later and if they still cannot answer, to ask them to learn it again. For each new vocabulary lesson, I think a teacher may want to prepare 2 optional activities - to strength knowledge and give opportunity to all students to succeed.
https://www.classtools.net/random-name-picker/

Hi you all!
My name is Shani Ran and I picked Quizlet to teach 4th graders the ABC(although it is suitable for younger ages).
I chose this activity from MOE website-
https://ecat.education.gov.il/quizlet
my activity is a fun easy way to teach and learn the ABC by flashcards. On one side you can see the letter and on the other side you can see a word witch starts with same letter (e.g. a - apple ).
Through learning the alphabet we also are able to learn how to say and write names of fruits and vegetables by each letter.
This application can be used for distance learning because the application is in the cloud and therefore can be used by various means - laptop, desktop computer, tablet, cell phone and more at any time and especially from anywhere and not necessarily from the classroom.
There are two options to use it in class:
1. With the computers in the classroom.
2. Use the same method with physical cards- e.g. - divide the class into groups and give each small group their own cards and oversee their progress.
In distance learning, the teacher needs to go into the application and introduce the students to the game and what can be learned from it.
In addition, while they are learning through the game, she needs to keep track of their activities, their progress and to assist if needed.
At the end the teacher should check how much the method has contributed to their ability in terms of understanding and spelling the letters and words.

So if you ask any of the students I work with, they will tell you about my (Kristen) love of book reports! During the summer, one of my courses required us (as students) to create newsletters to present a topic via smore. I fell in love with it! It creates a fun presentation with the potential for multiple mediums (text/image/video/audio....) which can be shared with classmates via distance learning or presented in class. Personally, I found the platform easy to use after a basic demonstration.

Before assigning a presentation, it is ideal for the teacher to walk the class through using the site - showing any of the features they are expecting the students to use. If classes are being done via Zoom, this can be done via a shared screen. If in class, it can be projected. If it is the students first time with smore, perhaps assign a super small "project" on something that interests them so that they can play around with it before moving to the more formal assignment.

In terms of level, I feel that this platform (with instruction) fits middle and high school. While I work with more native or higher level speakers, it could easily be applied to any level. With demonstration, I feel that students of most levels can navigate the site.

During the assignment (depending on its length) it would be beneficial for the teacher to see how it is coming along. Checking in and seeing if there are struggles, misunderstandings or confusion will make the process much easier for the students, especially if it is a problem many are encountering.

After completing the assignment, an assessment from the teacher and the opportunity to fix any big mistakes would be a good step before having students either share the link or share their presentations in class.

SONGS Hi, my name is Naama Harpaz and I chose the song activity, because from my experience songs are powerful and essential tools to teach kids of all ages. It is always a wonderful and refreshing way to start a lesson with a song and singing all of us together. Then the kids begin an English lesson in a playful and a positive attitude. This can be done in distance learning by sharing the song on the screen or in class by projecting the song on the whiteboard. I selected a song which is suitable for young pupils from the second or could be also for the third grade, which are learning and practicing the ABC. I taught many young learners the ABC and I found it a very memorizing way to remember the letters, their order and their phonics. The teacher should always sing along with the kids, then we can practice again the letters orally and finally by writing them in their notebooks or workbooks each one individually. Its all about drilling and repeating again and again the letters and their phonics till the pupils can recall them by themselves. The first song that I chose is the Alphabet Animals song, which young kids can relate to easily with no stress. In addition there is another song form the same series which my pupils like, it is the Alphabet Halloween song which kids especially love, because its a bit more scary and daring.

By: Inbar Kahn

I would like to present the story line website. This is a website that presents kids' books read by different people, that love reading and books in a very sweet, fun way. I love to use it because it is presented as a positive language lesson and exposes the kids to reading, listening and reading comprehension skills. In a platform of distance learning, the teacher can record one's-self, inviting the kids to read the story from the link. The story that I chose to share from the website is "A Bad Case of Stripes". The kids can hear the book while the seeing the pictures and following the words. In the end of the lesson, the teacher can bring back her self-recording and try to summarize the story. Afterwards, the students will follow a reading comprehension worksheet about the story. The story I am presenting is good for fourth or fifth grade. I think, except for the language learning skills, they get a lesson for life as parable for development of social skills.

https://www.storylineonline.net/books/a-bad-case-of-stripes

I still to this day remember songs from my English lessons in school as well as songs from English teaching programs on TV.
In our days we can use songs from Youtube or from diffrent sources on social media or other educational sites such as MOE as attached bellow.
The activity I chose is for 4 graders Israeli students. The good thing about this activity is that it can be used via Zoom by sharing screen and link to the quiz. In the classroom, I can either give my students a worksheet or screen the quiz and ask them to participate in small groups.
Pre activity:
at first I will intorduce the topic of the lesson and play the song from Youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F0NYBBKczM&t=20s
While activity:
After playing the song in Zoom or on the screening bord at school I will ask each student to choose an object (eg. pen, book, notebook atc...) and demonstrate the new terms thay ave just learned: on, in,under.
I will also demonstrate Next to... over and behind
Post activity:
I will let them experience a quiz to practice the new words and understend how to use them.
This is the link for the song on Youtube and the quiz:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F0NYBBKczM&t=20s

https://wordwall.net/resource/6950833/prepositions-under-next-overs

I think a song is a great tool to use in class. The key to a successful song-based lesson is to deal with the text, as you would with any other type of short text regardless the topic.

The objevtives: To review the first conditional and to teach the second conditional. In order to engage the students they will have to give examples of sentences with the first conditional and they will be written, by me, on the board in class or via Zoom. Very briefly and we will move on to the second conditional. After giving the students an indroduction of second conditional we will start with the song activivty:

1. Listen to the song. Who is the singer?
https://youtu.be/JKSmFg0M3iY
2. Ask questions about the title etc.
3. Listen to the song again, and to focus on the second conditional. How many examples can you find? Why do you think the song-writer choose to use second conditional for this song?
4. Round things off with some creativity. I would hand out a worksheet. If the lesson is via Zoom the worksheet will be sent to the students' Moodle. Whatever they will not finish during the lesson will be their homework. A few minutes before the end of the lesson we will go over the material we have learnt during the lesson.

By: Asa Subara Pettersson

The game I found is a hidden picture game. There are many pictures to choose from, and all of them have variety of vocabulary translated into visual images.

I found the game on the Tel Aviv district website (https://sites.google.com/view/telavivenglish/home?authuser=0). It is a finding picture game to practice vocabulary. In my opinion it can be suitable already from the third grade, even though in some of these pictures I found myself working hard to find a picture, so maybe 5th grade and up on this specific website.
In distance learning this website is a good practice on words learned in the lesson and you can use google forms afterwards to check the pupil's spelling if you want to. In the fiscal class I would print out the pictures and let the pupils work together on finding the words in the big picture. Combining social skills with practice on seeing and saying the words and translating them into a visual concept.
While in distance learning, each pupil would be working alone and I would encourage practicing on saying the words out loud. In class I would divide the pupils into pairs and let them talk to each other and practice saying the words simultaneously.

Hi everyone,
My name is Michal Shulman and I am going to share
with you an amazing tool I am using to get my students motivated in learning
their vocabulary.
They are in 5th grade and still don't remember the
days of the weeks and in addition I added words describing the weather.
Every lesson we begin with "What day is
today?" , "What day was yesterday?" and "What day will be
tomorrow?" . After a short revision we start talking about the weather.
They love it.
The tool of "Quizlet" can be used to
learn much, and I decided to make a set of cards on what we have been learning.
The students were sent a link to relevant set of cards and started practicing
their vocabulary. I showed them how to use them for learning and it is great
for distance learning. The following lesson we started with each student
writing in his and her notebooks the names of the week. What an approvement!!!
We shall continue practicing and an addition of words shall be added to this
set of cards.
Next lesson I am planning on having an interactive
game using Quizlet Live. This too is one of the options of the tool of
"Quizlet".
This is just a small example of what one can use
Quizlet for.
https://quizlet.com/548889082/days-of-the-week-flash-cards/

A time based competition is the best agent for this and a quick feedback is imperative. This lead me to choose a Kahoot quiz. Geared towards the 6th grade, an advanced level , so everyone can participate without feeling left out. It can be used for distance learning, because all you have to do is to provide them the link, and they can compete with one another with the same ease as if they were in the classroom.
In class ,as opposed to distance learning ,the teacher can sit next to the challenged children and help them, or give rewards.
Before starting, the teacher should tell them that when they speak English they have to make split second decisions, here, they can experience this situation.
While performing the quiz the teacher, should incessantly point out the merits of the more challenged students. Encouraging them. If they failed a question but succeeded in the next one, it means they learned and he should point out that progress.
Once the competition ends and the teacher duly congratulates the winners, he should tell them that the results don't mean anything, and the very fact that they handled the pressure is the most important thing. That they can take this quiz home and try it themselves.

WHO IS THE BURGLAR?- Shira Karni

That cute activity combines a few skills and subjects- the main goal is to encourage the students to speak and read in english, and the subjects that are practiced are grammar and vocabulary.
This activity opens with a background story about a burglary happened yesterday. The idea is to give the students cards (one card for each student) with different characters, each one has its own "I.D."- facts about name, age, homestate, hobbies, profession, etc. each card has its own number. the teacher then says- number X is the burglar, so only the teacher and the chosen student know. Then, the teacher show the evidences the police found- (it can be changed however the teacher wants) for example- an evidence might be "the police found a parking ticket from California, the footprints on the crime scene are in shoe size 44...).

link:
https://en.islcollective.com/english-esl-worksheets/grammar/verb-tenses/who-burglar-30-conversation-cards-roleplay-class-and-group-s/1519

This activity suits an advanced 5th- grade, 6th grade in elementry school, and 7th in junior high- for a "more fun" lesson.

In distance learning- the teacher tells the background story and sends each student a card via private chat option of zoom. Also the teacher chooses the "burglar" via private chat Then, she shows the class the evidences. After that, the teacher sends the students to break out rooms- 2 students pair room. the students have to talk and write down all the information about their peers. every 5 minutes the students switch rooms in order to talk to as many kids they can. in the end of the sessions, the students vote for the burgler on mentimeter. In the end of the activity, the real burglar reveals himself/herself.
https://www.mentimeter.com/

in class.-the students to go round the class and ask/answer questions about the personal information and take notes. after the time is up, the students vote by raising their hands for the burglar.
Then, the burglar the real burglar reveals himself/herself.

The teacher should explain the task, and to tell the background story and during the activity to encourage the students to switch partners every few minutes and ask informative questions.

My Name is Atteret and I really like teaching almost everything through stories. Usually I chose the starfall site which is great for basic and advanced reading.I chose to focus on teaching the magic 'e' rule. The lesson plan suits the 3rd/4th grade.

First activity:
I start the lesson by asking for 3 volunteers . I tell them to stand by the board. Above each of them I write one of the letters of a cvc word (doesn't have to be a real world). For example: bak. Then I ask them to jump in thier place and say the sound of the letter when it's their turn and together we form a word. Then I ask for another volunteer. He/She stands at the end and above I write the lettere 'e'. so now I explain that 'e' is the stinging bee and the student 'flies' to the vowel letter (a), touches him and the vowel letter cries out his name as pronounced in the ABC and then the bee drops. So then each student jumps again with our new sound of the vowel...
Second Activity: I write numbers with magic e words all over the board. The student says: I want to read number...till everyone reads at least one.
Third Activity: Reading the story from Starfall focusing on the Magic 'e' rule. We take turns in reading.

At the end and if we have time we can also play the magic e memory game right next to the story.

Hi, my name is Anna Baimler and I am on my way to becoming a teacher but so far during my practicum on Zoom I see a lot of quizlet. is extremely useful and results show the gap in learning immediately. My suprim teacher uses it every beginning if the lesson to check the vocabularry and shake up student for better learning. It was said in the website that it is more than ok to use it online on Zoom and in class as well. Our ( may i say so) students if the 5th grade put the sentences of the previous task and texts. I think the only prewarm that can be done before the quizlet task is refreshing in the memory the oncoming words. During the task it is nice when teacher makes comment on the given examples, I think students feel the feedback and keep on going better. I have checked out the russian quizlet as well found out that is very much used in my motherland country as well. Great tool.

I like Kahoot because it integrates so many different elements all in one; It arouses the students to participate & compete. I creates a positive Adrenalin rush and a fun feeling of playing around & enjoyment. You can teach so many subjects while using it and making your students feel included. One suggestion I have is ti keep it simple yet interesting. Sometimes we tend to overdo it & make it about the game or the score & less about the content. In conclusion, my suggestion/advice is to use it mildly, some times less is more- keep the competition on a positive note, simple, fun questions and leave them looking forward to having more playful sessions of Kahoot in the future.

Hi Naama- regarding your "ABC Halloween song";

I loved the song activity, which was both unique and educating. One thing I liked about it is that it had an up-to-date vibe to it. It referred to the holiday season (I wouldn't have used it in the summer, for example) and it had a special spooky vibe- which I loved!) I think students would enjoy this version very much. One suggestion I have to make it even better is to have a follow-up during class. For example; I would have taken the Halloween theme and make a whole lesson regarding it- I would tell them a short story about Dracula, let them drew Halloween decorations (Since we are in Israel, maybe I would make something similar for Hanukkah & it's symbols, to make it more relatable) . A review of the holiday's traditions (and costumes). My main idea/suggestion is to build an educational lesson plan around your interesting topic (as it is shown in the video-clip)- so the whole unit would start with a sing followed by a matching lesson plan activity.

I used this bingo today by reviewing the words with the class, and then sent them a link for the bingo in the chat. I then read and wrote each word out in its turn, while the students marked the words I read on their bingo sheet.
