Benefits of the Ecuadorian Curriculum. One of the benefits that we can find in the student curriculum is the use of technology to improve student learning in an effective way, including the Communicative Language Teaching approach and CLIL.
with all this tried to improve the quality of English teaching and learning in Ecuadorian secondary schools.

Disadvantages of the Ecuadorian curriculum for its application. That the excessive mandatory and desirable objectives to accomplish at each school year and the confusing coding system to develop the micro-curriculum planning were the main issues they found when planning their teaching-learning process. We have a teacher named Karla who claimed that when planning a lesson, it was a waste of time to match the general objectives' codes, the mandatory and desirable goals for each curricular thread, the performance indicators, and the evaluation criteria. For her, this was a complex process which aimed to fulfill bureaucratic rather than educational purposes. Another disadvantage is that not in all educational institutions we can find functional computers and Internet service for students to use these resources during their classes, so what the student curriculum dictates cannot be put into practice in many Cases, thanks.

One major benefit that I came across in the 1st reading is that the examination of teachers" beliefs is important in the context of curriculum reform and influence of teachers' beliefs on the success of the reform of the curriculum, also the methods suggested in the curriculum are well intended.

However, there are benefits and strengths in the curriculum, there are drawbacks and challenges, one drawback that is that teachers find it hard to put what is in the curriculum into real practice in the classroom, this may be for various reasons, one reason might be lack of training and another reason lack of resources, another drawback is that, although, English is a mandatory subject in Ecuador, the reality is that Ecuador ranks as one of the worst countries in Latin America when in comes to English knowledge, finally, one huge challenge is to give teachers the necessary training so they can be up to date and another challenge is to implement what is written in the curriculum about the desired level of English that students are supposed to have and achieve that.

Drawbacks

Based in the opinion of three participantes that are high School teachers in public schools in Ecuador, the national curriculum it is not developed based on our teaching reality, is not applied in public schools due to different circumstances, such as a lack of teacher training and students motivation to learn the English language. Also the National Curriculum does not cover important factors such as teaching students with special needs, there is a lack of connection between the Ecuadorian national curriculum requirements and their teaching in secondary school contexts.
