GOLD- James Cook wanted to find land. This was positive because they could find new land. This was also negative because people died and also got diseases. Both now and then people want to search for land but now they also are exploring the oceans.

GLORY- James Cook would gain glory. The positive thing was gaining glory. The negative was that some people died. Both now and then people want fame but now less people would get sick and die because more things have been invented.

On March 26th, 1773, James Cook’s ship entered Dusky Bay, New Zealand. Both captions knew that the weather conditions were bad. The knew the weather would split them up so they planned a meeting spot. Some things they did while they were there was smoking fish, brewing beer, repairing sails and other damage, shooting fouls and seals, and gathering wood and water. They also met a Maori family. They both visited each other’s homes. The two ships reunited on May 18th. Many of Furneaux crew members had got scurvy due to the lack discipline and dietary.

I think this might of affect them negatively. I believe this because while they were headed back they got seperated again, and Furneaux and his crew got attacked and killed by Maori Indians and didn’t make it back. They switched on him because he got mistaken as a Lono, a god associated with fertility, agriculture, and relaxation. Some natives stole a small cutter vessel. That led to a battle where Cook's crew opened fire on the natives.

James cook had good relations with the islanders or the natives. Like I said before him and a Maori family went to each others homes or wherever they stayed. Although the Natives killed James Cook’s other crew, the natives liked James Cook. He left a positive impact on New Zealand. Districts, suburbs, schools, hotels, motels and consumer products acknowledge his name.

James Cook brings American and British values to the Hawaiian islands. On James Cook’s third voyage a major consequence was the opening of the northeastern quadrant of the Pacific Ocean, including the Hawaiian islands, to world trading and international politics. Four domains were then combined into one. This included Kauai, Maui, Oahu, and Hawai’i. There cultural life casually blended with Christian, British, and America value to create a new Hawaiian society.

This is different from his perspective because it’s all his emotions, how he felt, and what he really thought. From somebody else they can’t really say how he felt. This primary source is different from one that would be from back then because there is more sources now then there would be the time he went.
