Ils ont enlevé l'ancienne pour des raisons de sécurité.
 La nouvelle boule faite en inox et polyester, a été placée sur le toit du pavillon du Futuroscope, à une vingtaine de mètres du sol, à l’aide d’une grue de 700 tonnes.
Elle fait 17m de diamètre, une cinquantaine de tonne.
Ils l'ont d'abord construite a coté du pavillon pour faciliter la manoeuvre et l'ont ensuite posée dessus.
Le tout a coûté 750 000 euros et des milliers d'heures de travail.
