This changed when she joined the school news paper and she got to interview Chuck Yeager the first person to fly Mach 1. “In the hallways afterward, the other kids kept coming up to me to tell me how lucky I was. What was he really like, they asked. What did he say? Every one treated me with difference accorded only to the school’s top athletes” (Walls, 233).
