Ageism is a prejudice against the elderly. The elderly have made their mark in society, like the young people are doing now. Most people don’t look at it that way. The young generation are some of the same people making it hard for the elderly today. We should take pride in the elderly, because a lot of them have paved the way for us to live as we do now. Just because the elderly have to be cared for, or forget things every now and then, don’t mean they should be mistreated. It will not hurt to take the time and hold the door open, or help put their groceries in the car. Elderly does not necessarily mean the person can’t remember things, or do things because of their age. Contrary to what some people may think, there are a lot of sharp minded elderly people there’s a lot to learn from the elderly if we would just take the time to listen, and not always take them for granted. They have experience, wisdom and good advice to give, if we listen to them. They should not be mistreated or abused, they should be respected and honored.
