Many of the rules that the Taliban enforced were that girls were not allowed to go to school, allowed to leave their homes without the company of a male, etc. This made her daily life very stressful and hard.

When Malala was 15 years old, she was shot in the head by a member of the Taliban.

In 2009, the BBC reached out to Malala's father asking if she would be willing to write for them about her life as a girl in Pakistan under Taliban rule. Even though it was dangerous, she wanted to do it, so her father accepted. "Malala Yousufzai was one of the few brave voices who spoke out", writes The Daily Telegraph's Pakistan. Malala wrote her blog anonymously, otherwise she could've faced physical violence or even death. Her blog brought to light the abuse and acts of terrorism that the Taliban caused and showed the world what was happening when others were too afraid to speak out. Many call her a "Pakistani heroine" for her bravery surrounding this.
