I ended up using Holler's unedited photos as I believed they looked better than the edited versions. As we used a green screen, it was a challenge to remove any green colouring from gaps in hair, as well as reflections on shoes etc.

Here's an edited version; to me it looks too fake to use within the magazine. When zoomed in, you can see the green reflection on their hair therefore I decided they weren't high enough quality to use within the magazine.

Cimmerian's photo was a lot better; I like the fact we used their album artwork as the background, it adds a gloomy element to the photo. An issue when printing this image was the background mostly turned black, which still related to their genre.

This was the unedited image used for the front cover. I wanted Fari to 'roar like a lion' to grab potential reader's attention. It also connects to Printed Sounds' tagline of 'unleash the roar', connoting confidence you should have in the music industry.

Mission Creep's photos had similar issues to Hollers; when zoomed in you can see the gaps in some member's hair, although this is better disguised with a black background rather than pink.

Editing the artist's interviews was a lot more challenging than those sent by the industry professionals. Although most gave detailed answers, the example above from Holler shows little information, meaning I had to add in bits of information (mostly through knowledge of their instagram) to bulk out the page. This was difficult as I planned Holler for a double page spread and unfortunately, compared to other artists, you can tell the information given lacked due to the sparseness of the page.

The main issue with Mission Creep's response was that it look too long to get the answers back to me, despite reminding over six times via Instagram DMs.

Originally, I wanted to release Printed Sounds on the 5th April, however as Mission Creep responded on the 6th, this pushed the print date back to the 12th April as I needed time to edit their article and magazine page.

Similarly, Electric Lullaby also took a while to get back to me relating to the delay of print. However, important to note that if I gave these questions a month in advance as opposed to a week, then I would have more time to edit articles. Organisation is a priority here.

Fari's article was my favourite of the whole magazine; she provided great detail on who she is as a person as well as the music she creates. This article was partly focused on Fari's MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), which gave helpful insight into the mind of a musician who struggles with their mental health. I liked how real the interview felt even though it was conducted over email - I struggled to fit her answers onto the page!

Early March, I contacted WaterBear to ask if they could help with funding the cost of print. This led to a meeting with Will Matthews and Andy Maclure, to where I pitched Printed Sounds.

With the magazines printed, the next step was to distribute the 100 copies throughout Brighton and Hove. This was partially completed on Monday 15th April to WaterBear HQ, Hobgoblin Music, GAK and Small Pond. Further copies were given to: Brighton Electric, Resident, Hope and Ruin, Folklore Rooms, Across the Tracks, North Laine Music, Rossi Bar, The Prince Albert, WaterBear Venue and Mudpie Music.

The second means of distribution was the online magazine, linked to the Printed Sounds website. This was shared through a link on my social media, which gave artists involved the chance to repost on their page.

When distributing the printed copies, I tagged artists who were able to repost, therefore widening the audience.

More distribution was seen in links sent to WaterBear tutors.

The desktop website looks a lot better than the iPhone version, it was a challenge to get information displayed the way I wanted on a smart phone, although the information is still there - just in an awkward manner.
