Just like how Aeolus gifted something to Odysseus, The best gift anyone has ever given to me would be my small brown teddy bear, Abby! I received this stuffed toy on the day I was born. She has been on every trip and journey I've been on such as the Philippines, Florida, and Montreal! To me she is my most favorite travel buddy and "friend". She would always be my show and tell item and my friend to match clothes with. I've had her for so long that her fur is all rough and loved. To me she is the best thing I could ever receive from my parents. This gift to me would be the most special thing I have ever received in my whole life.

A friend I had who undermined me and stirred up trouble would be my old best friend in Middle School. My old friend used to be one of my closest and most reliable friends during the first two grades in Middle School. However, as time went on they threw me under the bus and indirectly kicked me out. She was always complaining about how annoying and childish I am with her and how I should grow up! Not only did she leave me out, she also left many of my other friends out and talked bad about them (including me). I feel like its a good thing to be able to experience this betrayal and a sign of growing in order to know what is right and wrong in picking and making friends.

Just like me, Odysseus also received a gift from someone, Aeolus. Aeolus gave Odysseus a sack containing all the winds in order to help them for their journey home. Aeolus's kindness can be seen through this action since it conveys how Aeolus wants to help and guide Odysseus and his men back home. I believe that the gift my parents gave me when I was little is as strong and caring as the gift Aeolus was kind enough to give to Odysseus.

The first time I was away from home, was when I traveled with my uncle and aunt to Rehoboth Beach. This was the first time I was away from home and from my parents and brother. To me I think this helped me become more mature and showed how much home meant to me. During this trip, we saw fireworks, went to the beach and more. The whole trip was extremely fun and entertaining, however I got homesick quite often and missed my family. These feelings to me are normal since I am stepping out of my comfort zone and am learning new experiences "independently". This taught me to embrace my childhood and home more often since time flies by when your having fun.

Similarly, Odysseus also experienced this betrayal with one of his men Eurylochus. Eurylochus was one of his most loyal men and helped him throughout his journey such as tying him up from the sirens, etc. However, this all went overboard when Odysseus told his men to not eat the Cattle since Helios is always watching them. Once Odysseus passed out, Eurylochus being as stubborn and naive as possible, told everyone that dying of starvation is the worst death anyone could experience. After getting everyone's agreement, they ate the cattle and betrayed Odysseus's orders leading to their deaths.

This is connected to the Odyssey since Odysseus had to be away from home for 20 years leaving his family and home behind. Odysseus's effort and strength to keep trying to go home shows how he truly misses his family and how much willpower he has. Throughout the Odyssey, its obvious how much Odysseus loves his family through avoiding Circe's and killing all the suitors. If I was Odysseus, I don't think I could stand being away from my family for 20 years with no contact!

I believe that one of the toughest challenges I had faced would be marching band season. To me band is something that requires a lot of focus and motivation, since its really hard to get into if you don't love or want to achieve greater in it. Throughout last season, I had to relearn how to hold a mallet and how to keep my rhythm in the songs which took a while since it was complete different from how I learned it before. Without the help from my teachers and peers, I don't think I would of had the motivation to keep going throughout band. It starts from 5-8pm and also includes a band camp in the middle which usually takes up the whole day. To me Marching band isn't just a simple fun band, its something your have to work for and achieve.

Odysseus's willpower and motivation to see his family again really helped him throughout his whole Journey. After the war at Troy, Odysseus's main goal was to head back home to see his family, however the odds were against him and lead him to a hard and rough journey back home. He had to fight and avoid monsters such as the Cyclops, Sirens, Scylla, and more. He preserved through all of this with the thought of meeting his family again. I wish that I could have the same amount of focus and motivation Odysseus had to go home, for my school and education!

To me the most helpful and supportive person throughout my entire journey would be my music teacher Mr. Priori. He was the teacher who helped me easily fly through middle school with his generous comments and funny puns. He helped me during choir when I was struggling with a part of the song, and always gave me a chance to get a solo each year! Him also being a co-director in the musical helped me become more confident and helped with parts of the musical I was struggling with. Even though I have only known him for 3 years he helped and supported me greatly, even after graduating Middle school. Thank you Mr. Priori for guiding me up through my journey!

In the odyssey, Odysseus also received Guidance and help from the God of wisdom and war, Athena. Athena helped him fight all the suitors once he arrived back home, and gave him disguise's to appear strong and poor in order to not alert his wife and son that he has returned. Athena's help truly displays how supportive and helpful she is to Odysseus and how she wants him to be happy and reunite with his family again. I believe that Athena and my teacher are similar in ways that they want to help and guide us through our journey's in life!
