Hi I’m Chaney and I am a reader just like you . I have been reading for a long time and you are just taking off . You may not like reading yet but soon you will find that book that just gives you that feeling of excitement and nerve, so I have some advice for you about reading. In books you can imagine the characters and how the are similar and how they are different you can imagine what they look like and how they act . In books you can be who you want to be without people telling you no , you can be a king or a queen an animal or a plant, you can be you .

Dear Young Reader,

I have written this letter to teach you about the importance of reading. If you have to read for a class assignment or just to get better at reading, don’t ever think you have to read. Think of it like a privilege. You get to read. Finding the right book is like transporting to a whole new world, in which all your greatest dreams come true. In fiction , you get to imagine all the characters in your mind and see their point of view. In nonfiction, you learn lots of true facts about what you are reading about. When you find the right book, it will be like you are one of the characters, observing everything. I prefer to indulge in historical fiction. When I found my right book, I got sucked into the great reading vortex that is words.

Happy Reading,

          Sineet Adal

Dear Reader,

I’m going to start this letter off by just talking about things I enjoy while reading. One thing I like about reading is the stories. I like fiction more than non-fiction because of the plots. Fiction stories really just grab my attention because I honestly find non-fiction boring. I’m not telling you it’s boring, I’m just stating my opinion. Anyways, I also like reading about the developments in characters (how their personalities grow). For example: Bob is really mean to Jeffery. But as the story goes on, Bob becomes friends with Jeffery. And finally, I enjoy learning about characters’ backgrounds. The more you learn about a character’s history the more you will understand about the actions they make. Now it’s time for book suggestions… yay. You may be able to read these through and understand it all, but you will probably have to wait until you’re a little older. Some books I have enjoyed, and you might too are titled, Trials of Apollo, Percy Jackson, The Kane Chronicles, and other books written by Rick Riordan. Just know these are all related to mythology. You should also look for little details in the story and try to think of other meanings for things the author may have written. Those are my thoughts for you, so thanks for reading this and I hope you have a good day.

Sincerely, Milo

Dear Reader,

Reading is more than just words. It brings life, different realities, joy, and much more! Reading is like an imaginary world where you get to experience all the character’s points of view. You use your own imagination. You, as the reader, set the scene and the characters how you view them. It’s like watching a movie in your own head.

Reading calms down your mind and lets you fall away from the real world for a few hours, and it takes you on adventures. Time seems to not exist while reading and suddenly things from the real world don’t matter. All your worries dissolve in to nothingness. Reading also helps you with your vocabulary skills, memory, stress relief, and more sleep. To love reading you have to have motivation and a positive attitude toward it. If you get out a book and you're mad and in a bad mood you're not going to start to love reading. Reading is my happy place and I hope it’s yours too.

                                                                                    -Audrey Love

Dear Young Readers!

Reading is an enjoyable thing, it can help you, you can enjoy it, you can use your imagination, it’s amazing. You know, when I was in 2nd grade, no one told me how good books are, and how you could use to imagine everything. For example I am reading a Percy Jackson and I imagine everything and everyone. It feels so good! Another thing I wish they told me is, how interesting reading can be. Nonfiction is a great topic, you can learn about stuff in the past, like nothing else can teach. You can learn about stuff that happened and it’s interesting informative, you might like it! The books offer a lot, it shows a world different then the one we live in. The doors are wide opened for a whole new world.

Best regards!

Santiago

Dear young reader,

Hi there reader, I just wanted to give you some tips for reading. So first off I want to tell you something that would’ve loved to known when I was your age, explore your interest and be open minded of other books! When I was younger I loved fiction but never went out of my comfort zone I wish I did though. I now have so many genres I love and read all the time. I would love if you were to explore your interest and become in love with some genres like I did.

The next thing you should know is you should read a lot. Yes that may sound boring to you, but you just haven’t found the right book yet. I did not like reading at all when I was your age but once I started to pay attention and read the books I got really into it. Believe me the book gets better once you get further into the story. Sometimes when you really get into a book you feel like your there in the story watching the events happen. It’s a really fun thing especially when it’s a fiction story and there’s so many possibilities that could happen! So make sure you read a lot of books!

The last tip for you is to take care of the book. Don’t leave it anywhere it might get ruined, and please don’t fold the corners on a book for a bookmark. So always have a bookmark with you and don’t lose it! Try to keep the book nice because who doesn’t appreciate a well taken care of book!

Enjoy your book and don’t forget to choose different genres once in a while! Also make sure you take care of your book. I hoped those tips helped you. Have a great day!

Best regards, Sarah

The thing about reading is if you don’t have a good book or a book you like you can start to hate reading, the best part is teachers and parents can help you with that. Things I wish I would have known,

1. Reading takes time you can’t just read a book and be the best reader it takes practice

2. Reading can be boring if you can’t find a book you like it can be hard to stay focused

3. But did you know that you can find friends in a good book? There is an endless number of books that have even more characters to read and have fun with. For an example, when I read the book series Harry Potter, I had so much fun with the characters, I almost read all the books in a month!

Dear Young Reader,

Reading…. A wonderful world of wonder, where a new book is a new adventure. You will soon realize something I wish I knew going into reading for the first time, and that is that the book is more than a lot of pages with words, it’s a endless world of imagination And wonder with so many possibilities. The characters in your book will come to life and the settings and detail will make you seem like you are in the book yourself. The characters will become your best friends, and when you feel like you know the story… boom plot twist something new and exciting happens! I love that feeling when you find the perfect book and you just can’t stop reading it. Trust me, you will know when you find the perfect book, when you want to read more and you lose yourself in the book wanting to know what happens next. Also when you find the magical worlds that take you away from reality. So trust me… you will know.

Sincerely,

Emily Wolf

A Letter to Young Readers.

Something you must know is that books are more than words on a page. Books can leave you lost in a magical world with your friends, or waging wars loyally. Books can teach you spiritually and mentally. Books can leave you astonished with the ending and craving more.

There may be books you dislike, or books that you prejudice due to the title or blurb, or just seem like something you don’t agree with. If you’re not very explored in your options, here are some popular books, and some books I have loved over my years of reading.

v Harry Potter

v Foxcraft

v Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus.

v Forget Me Not

v The Night Diary

v Percy Jackson

v Pax

v The Hunger Games

v Aru Shah and the End Of Time

v Wings of Fire

v Three Times Lucky

v 50 Things to See In the Night Sky (non- fiction)

Many of these are above your current average reading level, and that’s ok, keep them in mind for when you’re older.

Don’t think of books as an accomplishment, instead think of them as a lesson tailored to you. However, it isn’t always so, as you should step out of your comfort zone often. You may not be pleased with what you choose, but it isn’t the book, it’s the message.

Sincerely,

Olivia Mason

I hope you know reading helps you understand so much more than just words. I love how there are many types of books, here are a few examples, Nonfiction, fiction, realistic, historical and so much more. A couple books I have enjoyed over the years are “Among the hidden”, (a book series), and “Holes” these books are above your reading level though. Reading makes me feel nervous, happy, and sometimes sad, also surprised! I hope you have a great experience while reading as I do.

,Lizzie McDuffee

Dear Young Reader,

Hello! My name is Claire and I LOVE to read! Reading is super fun and helps you learn things that you otherwise probably wouldn’t know. For me, it is really fun to read Fiction books because I like dragons and magic! I also sometimes like to read Realistic Fiction. Different people like different things, and you may not like to read. If not, then maybe you could try some books that are different from the books you have read so far!

Here are some books that you might like to read.

*Magic Tree House

*Rainbow Magic

*Animal Rescue

If you haven’t read those, maybe you should try them!

Dear Young Reader,

You might like to read books a lot. Or maybe, you don’t really like to read. Either is fine, but I can assure you, books are for everyone. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, or if you’re a boy or girl. You can always find books that you can refer to. You can understand the characters thoughts, emotions, and actions. Some books can make you laugh, cry, or make you feel nervous, or excited, making you just want to turn the page. Do know, that while some books will really stick out to you, some are just not your kind of book. You can stop reading a book if you just don’t like it. Just know, there are such a variety of different genres, or types of books. Sometimes, characters are going through exactly what you’re going through. Some characters can make your day better, with the funny things in their lives. Eventually you’ll find the book that gets you hooked, even if it’s not for a while. There are so many books out there. Don’t give up on searching, you’ll find that book eventually!

  Kelsey Johnson

  Sixth grader at Riverside Intermediate

Dear Young Reader,

Reading is super fun! It can help you so much! Reading helped me find my passion for informational things. Books give you so many opportunities to find your passion and what you like. You will have enough reasons to check out a book and read it to find entertainment, passion, and opportunities. Reading helped me out when I was your age. When I read the series called The Magic Tree House, it had a big impact on what I like to read because I found out that I loved non fiction! After this moment forward I only read non fiction books! So, reading can change your life as it changed mine! So go on and start reading and start checking out tons of books to find your passion of reading and that will change your life forever!

                                                                                                                  Sincerely,

                                                                                                                                Your Reading Buddy Seb.
