Q: How do I submit the digital portfolio?

A: You will submit the digital portfolio at the end of the semester.  It will include many of the assignments we will work on this semester.  Right now, focus on designing the portfolio.  It should have a theme and several tabs.

Q: I am having trouble accessing the progress checks in AP Classroom.  When are these due?

A: I would not worry too much about this.  AP Classroom have extra resources and practice I assign, but none of it will factor into your final grade.  It will only help you pass the exam and work on your personal goals for the course.  Any technical issues with AP Classroom should be directed to College Board.  Here is the number: 866-315-6068.

Q: I got a zero on the progress checks and now my grade is really low.  That stresses me out.

A: Please ignore grades in Canvas.  I tried to hide grades in Canvas because I do not keep up with them.  Some assignments automatically grade assignment.  I will work on my end to disable with feature.  

Q: I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the number of assignments.  Why are there so many this early in the semester?

A: It may seem like a lot of work, but try to look at it as drills.  In an athletic practice, you want a variety of drills to break up the monotony and to keep the athletes busy.  Make a list and make a plan.  If you are finding that assignments are taking too long for your or that you are having to take a lot of work home, put yourself on a timer.  Do not spend 90 minutes crafting the perfect response to the attendance question.  Instead, do your best in two or three minutes and try to get faster and clearer each day. 

My goal is to have more than enough work for you so that we fill 90 minutes.  If it spills over to the next day, that is usually fine.  If you need more time on a particular assignment, speak to me and we will figure out the best course of action.  

Q: What is due this week and when?

A: I tend to be a bit more flexible with formative due dates.  This is because it is mostly practice, and I do not want you to not complete the practice because the due date has passed.  What's most important to me is that you are improving and that you can clearly explain how.

Q: In class I feel confused.  Why is that?

There are many new activities and concepts in this course.  Newness leads to confusion. One piece of advice is ask clarifying questions. Being confused is not a valid excuse for not completing an assignment. It is your responsibility to ask when you do not understand. If at any time you feel overwhelmed, let me know. We will work together to help you prioritize the work.
