Today, I will be talking about why school uniforms should not be banned.

Around 20% of people wear school uniforms over the whole world, states Britannica.

Now I can see what you may be thinking. “Wearing your own clothes can express people!”

You are not wrong, however, uniforms take a very important role in schools, and let me explain why.

Trutexbtru2u states that 95% say uniforms help students ‘fit-in’.

The most common reason why kids shouldn’t have a uniform is the cost. I understand not having enough money to purchase specific clothing. But you can also buy used uniform to save money on things like Depop and other used-clothing selling apps!

Why should children not wear their own clothes at school?

Children will not be focused or on task , for they will feel comfy in their own clothes and that can impact their school work. In uniform, children don’t forget about their behaviour and they will remember that they aren’t at home and need to work to their highest standard, without becoming easily distracted.

Wearing a school uniform fends off bullies and peer pressuring because everyone wears the same clothes, and if people are being rude about other people’s clothing, they can just look at themselves as they are in the same clothing too.

So.. I imagine that you would be disappointed seeing a police officer wearing unacceptable clothing and coming to your house after being robbed. I imagine you wouldn’t like being peer pressured to wear specific clothing. I imagine you wouldn’t like a school seeming exclusive because of what people wear.

The uniform that the children wear gives them self-confidence. It shows them that they are part of a big community . In addition, it makes people remember you when/if you go out in your school uniform.

And about the money thing.. you could also buy used uniform to save up money. You can express yourself after school. You can express yourself on the weekend.

It is bad for your well-being because if you do not wear school uniform, it ruins the reputation for the school, as you do not look smart.

Now, here is some reasons why not wearing school uniform is bad. The children will not be focused or on task, for they feel comfy in their own clothes and that can impact on their schoolwork . There discipline goes up as they don’t feel at home unlike if they wanted to wear there own clothes this is because your brain identifies school uniform as for school not for something relaxed

Makes students feel equal between peers no matter the amount of money

Uniform makes it easy to identify a school for people to send their children there

It’s proven uniform makes children behave better as without uniform they feel more comfortable as if they’re at home having matching outfits can make all students feel equal. Poor students would no longer feel excluded because they were not wearing name brand clothing like the richer kids.

Uniform is vital in schools because it shows you a part of a large community, and it puts you in a position where your focused on your work. It improves wellbeing and they take pride in their appearance. It reduces kidnapping and the children don’t think they are at home doing whatever they want. It makes the children feel responsible and smart
