The pillars are composed of cool molecular hydrogen and dust that are being eroded by photoevaporation from the ultraviolet light of relatively close and hot stars. The leftmost pillar is about four light years in length. The finger-like protrusions at the top of the clouds are larger than our solar system, and are made visible by the shadows of evaporating gaseous globules (EGGs), which shields the gas behind them from intense UV flux. EGGs are themselves incubators of new stars

Pillars of Creation, found on April 1, 1995 by the Hubble Space Telescope, Jeff Hester and Paul Scowen from Arizona University. The original picture of the Pillars of Creation is composed of over thirty pictures (taken in visual light). The Pillars of Creation is voted as one of the most beautiful images taken by Hubble, it has been shown at many NASA celebrations most recently at NASA in Virginia celebrating Hubble's 25th anniversary. It is 7,000 light years from Earth and approximately five light years wide and four light years long. The Pillars of Creation are huge clouds of gas and dust (composition of cool molecular hydrogen and dust). At the tip of the left "pillar" are EGGS (Evaporating Gaseous Globules), which is where stars form (the physical features of the Pillars of Creation are actually not that unique). It is part of the Eagle Nebula (a small region), protruding from a inner wall of a dark molecular cloud. It is in the process of making stars using gas and dust (One of the reasons it's called the Pillars of Creation). It was also being eroded by a process in which electrons are stripped off of atoms, and heated up by radiation from the massive star, then they are being eroded by the stars’ strong winds and barrage of charged particles (evidence of this erosion is the bluish color surrounding the pillars). It is most likely gone now because of a super nova exploding over 6,000 years ago, the destruction of the Pillars of Creation wont be visible from Earth for about 1,000 years. The Pillars of Creation have been captured by image three times twice by Hubble and once by Herschel Space Observatory (Most recently captured in 2015 by Hubble on its 25th anniversary). The latest pictures of the Pillars of Creation brings us closer to seeing the first stars and galleries in the universe. Along with "normal" photos of the Pillars of Creation are near-infrared light photos which reveal a myriad stars. The reason why the Pillars of Creation seem to glow is because of massive stars kicking out enough horsepower in ultraviolet light to ionize the gas clouds and make them glow. Astronomers compared the 1995 photos to the 2015 photos noticing a lengthening jet-like feature over the twenty years being ejected by a newly formed star. The jet has gone sixty billion miles into space going at a estimated speed of 450,000 miles per hour. The sun was most likely formed in a similar way as the stars in the Eagle Nebula. Similarities between the forming stars in the Eagle Nebula and the sun are that both were made in a nebula. Evidence of the sun being made in a nebula is that the sun is made of mostly hydrogen, agrees with the idea. Some Scientists believe the suns nebula was also blown away by a super nova similar to the way the Eagle Nebula was destroyed (the sun and stars in Eagle Nebula formed a similar environment).
