doesn't really matter to me if we go by "you ask, you start" or what makes the most sense to the plot regarding starters. i'm more than happy to write the starter if asked.

they have been fined, threatened, censored - but never stopped. because to silence drevanir would be to admit the empire fears poetry. and that, the occupiers cannot afford.

within their stone manor, they keep the names of the dead engraved into the walls, each one carved by a different hand. visitors are asked to run their fingers across them.

born to the house of the gilded halls as its second son, taliesyn drevanir grew up as no stranger to the notion of making his voice heard to be seen. ever since he was a wee lad who could strum a lute, he was raised in the spotlight, spending his days of boyhood gallivanting on the stages of house drevanir’s myriad of theaters and festival halls scattered throughout edrathin. he learned a bevy of instruments under the watchful tutelage of his parents and his grandfather. to outsiders, he was considered a prodigious talent; however, belonging to a pedigree of prodigies, his talents were merely acknowledged as on par with familial expectations for a drevanir. rather than praise, hanyar, his grandfather and the drevanir patriarch, imparted instructions for him to use the pivotal instrument of all—his voice—to regale songs of reverence for the hollow mother, remembrance of the old ways, and resistance to the occupation.

passion and perseverance had long taken root and been entwined within taliesyn’s being. the plight of his people, the edornians, propels him to perform—to commemorate their memories and histories through storytelling despite the constant threat of censure and erasure. while his family had always woven defiance in their art, taliesyn began to perform his own compositions, which contained a radical edge not seen before and incited the ire of the occupiers like no other. his record number of arrests and fines served as proof that the ears of occupiers heard his words, but it did not prove that they were listening to him. his overnight stays in jail cells, waiting for bail, were not spent sleeping nor wallowing. no, he spent his time ruminating and reflecting until he realized the following—first, a message must be sown to take root and grow into a movement; second, he who carries the message must be the one to plant the seeds; and finally, third, he must venture outside of the forests he knows as home to spread his message.

with this revelation, taliesyn went against his family’s wishes and marked the first twenty-five years of his life by joining the wayfarer’s concord. though he now lacks the financial and social backing of his distressed noble parents, he has gained freedom to travel beyond his beloved edrathin, make a name for himself, and tell the world to listen.
