A Day in My Life

I usually sleeps everyday at 2.00-2.30 a.m. and wakes up around 6.45 a.m. to perform Subuh prayer and sleep again for 45 mins because of the lacking sleep I had the night before, before preparing myself to kick start my day. My day usually starts at 8.30 a.m. with me always in a rush to chase the 8.30 a.m. bus and I usually come early to finish my assignments and for group discussion.

On 13th March 2018, my class started at 9 a.m. and finished at 4.00 p.m. Right after class, my friends and I went to Puchong to buy stuffs for our Affective Domain Fundraising Project. It was a very tiring day but I had to bear with it till the end officially ends. We went to Hero Supermarket to buy cheap groceries for butter chicken, “dadih” which is a form of jelly in chocolate and strawberry flavor and rose and corn cordial for the fundraising day on the 14th March 2018. We wanted to buy 4 whole chicken from the Hero Supermarket but they sold it beyond our capital which was RM300. So, we went to Tesco Bandar Puchong to get some cheap and fresh cut chicken and a few ingredients we could not find at the Hero Supermarket earlier. We had our dinner together at the food court in Tesco and around 8.30 p.m. we arrive back to Cyberjaya. Out of the blue, we forgot that we did not have any water container to make our cordial the next day. So, Afina had to drove us back to her house which is around 40 minutes from Cyberjaya in Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan to get some water containers. I was so drained out till I feel asleep in the car on my way back to Cyberjaya from her house. After I arrived home, I straight away took my bath and get ready to prepare for the fundraising day the next day. 6 people out of my whole classmates helped in the butter chicken section and the rest finished their part in “dadih” and “cordial”.

A few guys in our class helped us cooking the rice for the butter chicken. All 6 of us were extremely tired because we did not have any rest for the whole day and we had to stay up late until 4 to finish and prepare for everything. The next morning which is the Fundraising day, I woke up at 9.45 a.m. because I could not help myself in waking up early. I woke up pretty late and had to rush because I had English class at 11 a.m. I was pretty late too for English class because everything was such a rush that day. In English class, we had presentation about exotic culture. My group and I presented about Breast Ironing culture in Cameroon, Africa. It was extremely dangerous for them to have such culture as it is physically and mentally abusing the victim. Right after my group finished our presentation, we asked for permission to dismiss early from Mr Jeremy, our English lecturer to prepare for the fundraising project. The project went well but some mixed reviews on our inconsistent taste in our butter chicken but we tried our best on satisfying everyone and we are not professionals. We did this to raise a fund for the orphanage under our Affective Domain assessment as part of our final assessment in April 2018.

The hard work paid off when we collected more than RM500 from the project. After the project ended, we cleaned up the venue together to make sure we did not get any complain regarding cleanliness. We went back with such joyful and meaningful values we learnt throughout the 2 days working together as one team in finishing our responsibilities and tasks.

So on the same day which is on 19th March 2018, I took my Chemistry test 2. I felt unease because I did very bad for my Chemistry test 1 and I need to ace my test 2 to help me gain another 20% of my GPA. After the test, I felt relieved but at the same still worried because the test was incredibly hard till the point I did not know what I had learnt before. It was really mind challenging as most of the questions were some new type of questions to us. After the test, I went down to the Café to eat lunch with my friends. Monday would always be the day where all the students here in Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences have classes and the 200 parking lots will never be enough for some of the students till the students have to park outside of the campus or just grab an uber from our hostel to the campus. The café was full and no more table and seats to grab so my friends and I had to wait for 10 minutes till one of the table finish eating their meals. I had “Ayam percik” and some cabbage with rice for lunch. After lunch around 1.50 p.m. , my friends and I went to the library to do some of our tutorials and assignments while waiting for our Chemistry lab at 3.30 p.m. I finished a few maths questions from the tutorials given which I need to submit it on Thursday on the same week. Finished my Chemistry Lab at 5.00 p.m. and went back with my friend, Afina and we went a Kelantanese restaurant to buy our dinner. It is known as “Nasi Kak Wok”. I have been craving for “Nasi Kak Wok” since forever and finally got my hands on it. It was super good and craving satisfied.

My Favorite Quote

My favorite quote – Positive actions will lead to positive thinking

I strongly believe that positive actions will lead to positive thinking. Mahatma Gandhi once said that what you think ultimately determines your actions. I found out about this quote as I was randomly searching for some motivational quotes on pinterest and came across this quote. In a blink of an eye, I saved the photo of the quote and make it as my laptop wallpaper as everyday I would open up my laptop and see some positivity to motivate me.

In life, it is a real challenge to change the negative thoughts in our mind but you can change it by your actions. Engaging positive actions can lead to positive thinking. Positive actions can vary depending on individual preferences because it is very subjective. There are numerous activities can be done that are scientifically proven to promote positive thinking.

Activities such as spending your time with the nature, hanging out with friends not only can increase your happiness but can also help to regulate your emotions and fosters a sense of connectedness with the nature and people around you by socializing. In a short word, exploring the nature can helps to revitalize your mind.

This quote really helps when I was dealing with anxiety and my panic attack I had since a few years ago. It helps me to always remain positive regardless of what happened in my life and in my past because the past cannot determine who you are now but it is your choice to take your past as something that can help you to be a better version of yourself for the future. People make mistakes and no one is perfect to not make any mistakes but we have the choice to accept our flaws or not and focus on being more happy and be more positive.

Positive actions will lead to bliss because instead of letting the negative thoughts surrounding you and pulls you away from the world, try to interact with the world because there are millions out there that are facing the same thing as us but still going on strong to make themselves happy. Do the things that bring happiness for you, surround yourself with positive people because it helps you to gain courage and be more optimistic of your goals which will eventually change the way you think and leads to establishing new practices and goals to be happy which is an ultimately bliss.

A Great Article

A GREAT ARTICLE – AN ARTICLE ABOUT ROSACEA

On November 2017, I was diagnosed by my dermatologist of what I thought was acne but she said it wasn’t. It is actually rosacea. I am suffering with rosacea.

It first started on March 2017, I was breaking out till my whole face was covered with cystic acnes. It was traumatizing to remember what had happened. I thought the acnes occurred because of the stress and pressure I got from my parents& family because my SPM results came out on March 2017. The results that will determine the start of my future.

I wasn’t bothered by the breakouts I had on March 2017 but starting from July 2017 until November 2017, I was devastated. My skin problems got worst day by day. Acnes would show up every single day. Never have I gotten a day without acne. What make it worst was the pain I suffered from the acnes. The acnes were flushing red& huge. They are not the type the will go away after 3 days. The acnes stayed there for the longest possible time I could ever imagine and after it went away, a new acne showed up again at the same spot. So the process continued until I was at my breaking point. I had enough.

I asked my dad that I wanted to meet a dermatologist to help me with my acne problems. He said yes. So, I went to a dermatologist and seek for help on my acne problems. The nurse scanned my face and the Dr. came to consult me regarding my problems. The first thing she said was “Ms. Akmar, I am sorry but I have to say this, your skin currently is suffering with rosacea” My jaw dropped and my mind went blank. I was never expecting that I would be diagnosed with a skin disease where it will never really go away unless by getting a treatment from medical experts.

After the consultation, I opened my laptop and started to search for articles regarding rosacea. I came across an article on MedicalNewsToday where the article explains “What is Rosacea?”. The article is completely relevant to the industry I am currently pursuing which is Science – Pharmacy. The article stated that Rosacea is a chronic and inflammatory skin condition that most often affects the face. Rosacea is often mistaken for acne which I have mistaken the skin condition as acne problems for months. My skin went from a combination skin to super sensitive skin in only a few months. Me, myself was not sure what was the cause of it.

This article gave a new perspective on how to take care of my skin. The symptoms of rosacea according to this article blushing easily and inflamed blood vessels. I started to ditch dairy products and take less spicy foods. I felt devastated when the article stated there will be no cure for rosacea. However, there are various treatments which can relieve the signs and symptoms.

The article talked about what the do's and dont's on taking care of Rosacea as people with rosacea have super sensitive skin and need to be super careful when it comes to skincare and diet.

I first thought I am an oily / combination skin kind of girl but my skin started to change and be super sensitive as soon as I graduated out from highschool and started to climb up and high into college life. Starting to be more mature and certain things did not go the way I wanted to it to be but this is life. There must up and down in life just like how a wheel rotating.

The article stated that people with rosacea need to avoid spicy food, dairy products at all cost as those food can inflame the skin and irritate the skin more. How? The blood vessel can swell up because of the heat from spicy food and hormones from dairy products especially milk that can cause the swelling of blood vessel and at the end to form bumps on skin due to that condition. The article states more that another major role on taking care the skin is your skincare. The skincare that you choose need to be very gentle to the skin and will not irritate your skin that can cause redness.

I learnt so much from the article that I started to google more articles regarding rosacea and reading about people's experiences suffering with this skin disease. It is a long healing process but someday it will totally heal.

Where do I see myself in 5 years? I have a lot of things I want to do and accomplish in the next 5 years but the most important thing that will happen in 5 years, I will be graduating from pharmacy school and finally be an independent woman by having a professional job as a pharmacist which is my dream since I was a little girl. A lot of my friends talk about getting married in the next 5 years but I don’t see myself even getting a boyfriend in 5 years (haha) but it is true. My goal in life now is to improve myself in every aspect to be a better version of myself which I mainly focusing on my studies. I want to prove to my parents that I can ace and achieve success and also accomplish great achievements just like my brothers.

In 5 years, after graduating from pharmacy school, I want to slowly build my own business which is to own a pharmacy store. I know it will a long and hectic journey for me to achieve that but I know I can achieve it by starting to save my money from the first salary that I will get. Having a degree in a professional career and also making business at the same time can guarantee my future to be more stable as the economy now is very unstable and unsteady to even depend 100% as a wage earner till forever. I also want to ease my parents burden and make sure that they are always healthy and worry less about their children as we are all grown up and will have our own responsibilities and duty as we grow olde
