As with any society, America has a stereotypical ideal that it pushes down onto its inhabitants in order to "benefit" itself. But is the American Dream really beneficial? Owning a house, acquiring a good job, being married to a spouse, and having children. What about people who cannot or wish not to have children, are they simply unable to become a true American? And what about people who do not want to be married? And those who are poor and/or uneducated, they are almost entirely incapable of attaining this dream due to the career & property requirements. The racial wealth gap, as well as many other systematic issues in America, make this dream even more difficult for those who are societally less privileged. Thus, the "true Americans" who can and do achieve the American Dream are doing nothing but perpetuating societal issues (particularly involving discrimination) regardless of their intentions.
