Alice Paul put a woman's desire for voice ahead of her own biological needs when she refused to eat for a significant amount of time and was eventually sentenced to prison and forced to eat so that she wouldn't have essentially sacrificed herself for the significance of the movement. Most importantly, she refused to submit to the idea that men deserved more than women.
