In Social studies we began our California travel project last week by completing the rough draft of our map and selecting our three stops. We will continue this week by working on our introduction. Please look in your child's binder for more information. The Padlet has a link to more information as well. The project will continue until the Thanksgiving break.

We near the end of our novel study of The Wild Robot. This is a lovely book that explores the mix of technology and nature while also understanding what it means to belong and being accepting of others. While we read the book, we will study the theme, character traits, overall reading comprehension, and vocabulary study.

In class, we will take our final quiz on Tuesday 10/7.

We have been working on our study skills/habits for the vocabulary words in class using index cards. Students can study the words on the Quizlet link as well.

We will watch the Wild Robot Movie in class and prepare for our final in class project to finish up this unit.

In writing, we are continuing Informational writing and working on writing complete paragraphs. We are also focusing on sentence structure and cursive.

Support Our Local Soldiers! Jackson Elementary Care Package Drive

Let’s come together to spread kindness and gratitude! Our goal is to send 15 care packages to local soldiers deployed in the Middle East. If we receive more donations, we can send more boxes! These brave men and women are serving far from their families for the next year, and we want to remind them that their community back home cares. We will be shipping the boxes after Veteran's Day, so they arrive around Christmas time!

Ways to Help:

Write a note - have your child write a thoughtful letter or note to the soldiers.
Donate Items – Choose from our Amazon Wish List or bring your own thoughtful items.
Contribute to Shipping – A $28 donation covers the cost of sending one care package.
