         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dubbed “the Pink Palace”, the 102-year-old Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard has housed many famous actors and musicians, from Rudolph Valentino to Marilyn Monroe and The Beatles. The hotel’s exterior was featured on the album cover of The Eagle’s “Hotel California”.<br><br></div><div>In recent months, however, the hotel has been the scene of angry protests about the decision of its owner, the Sultan of Brunei, to introduce Shariah law in his country.<br><br></div><div>Numerous individuals and organizations have joined a boycott of the property, cancelling events and demanding repayment of deposits. The protest took a dark turn in August, when hooded demonstrators screened raw footage of stonings.<br><br></div><div>Adweek, weighing in on the movement in May, said such extreme brand damage will be difficult to repair.<br><br></div><div>“The bad press and protests have tarnished the glamorous image of the Beverly Hills Hotel, one of the most famous hotels in the world,” the publication wrote<br><br></div>]]></description>
