Who is someone that you would consider a hero.

I would consider my father as my hero. My father came from Syria at age 18, with nothing. Literally nothing. He knew that if he came here he can pursue an education, and stay away from all the trouble his family is typically in. (Usually to do with drug dealing). His family kept telling him that there's no way he can successfully go through college, and that he's not smart enough. He came to the country with nothing (as said before), lived in public housing, got paid $1.25 a day, and still found a way just to go] get his education. My father sure proved them wrong by pursuing his education, getting his degrees, and being one of the top Electrical Engineers in the country. He went from having nothing and being stuck in "trouble" all the time to becoming really successful because of his hard work. People really enjoy the fact that he worked his butt off to become the man he is today, a man with power. I want people to understand that this man truly built his way up from nothing, and put in so much time, effort, blood, and tears to get where he is today.

Success to me is pursuing my education, and getting a job. This may seem really simple to others but because of my dad, he made me realize how important an education is in your life, without an education, you truly don't have much. I'll know that I made it when I can walk down the stage to grab my diploma, and shake my professors hand. It'll be more meaningful to me just to see how proud both my parents are of me, finally being able to get a professional job because of my education. My plan is to go to ECC for two years, to get my Associates in Science, if I do that I will get a scholarship to IIT, (the engineering school I want to attend and graduate from) and finish off my last two years to get my degree in Civil engineering. After that I want to get my Masters in Structural Engineering, and if I complete this properly, I will be successful meeting my parents goals, and my educational goals as well.

The most important thing in my life at the moment is my baby brother. I love my brother more than anything, and I really would take a bullet for him before my sisters. My baby brother's name is Buddy, he's a Teddy Bear (Maltese shih tzu mix), and he is he first dog my family has EVER had. My parents are usually against having animals in the house, they thing they're gross and will take too much time and effort to take care of them. They aren't wrong. Ever since my oldest sister was born, she begged for a dog. 25 years later, My little sister and I convinced my Dad to come to the pet store with us, where we met Buddy, he was only 5 weeks old at the time. This was around Christmas time too. My dad then tricked my mother to go into the pet store, and when she walked in, Buddy looked at her, and she fell in love instantly with him and that's how we ended up getting a dog. He means the world to my whole family and we all love him more than anything.

My sisters and I are so unbelievably close. They are the people who really made me who I am today. Being a middle child, (well kind of, I have two older sisters and 1 younger sister, and a younger brother) I learn a lot from my older sisters mistakes, the teach me right from wrong. We have a strong family who are and always will be very involved in our lives. We also know that we have to be there for each other no matter what happens in our lives. Every Weekend we take time to just sit down and talk to see what's new with each other or just to complain on something little. We value each other to the point of when someone else tries to harm one of us, we all gang up on them to protect each other.

I identify with people who actually care to recieve an education, and have no hate in their hearts. I've always delt with people who just don't care about other individuals feelings, and it breaks my heart that there is not much we can do about it other than staying away from that kind of drama. I now only associate myself with people who want to stop the bullying, stop the hate, and want to do everything that is actually fun. I identify with knowledgeable, rational, reasonable people. After all, the more you know, the better decisions you can make (not that you necessarily will). And life is so much better when bad decisions are avoided and conversations flow freely and productively. I try my best to not associate myself with a lot of people from our school, yet I still have a few people from here that I will associate my self with. My friends Mia, Emma, Andrew, and Corbin are the few people I actually trust at school. Some (Corbin) can be very irritating at some times, but they are the most honest and "real" people at our school. These friends of mine are very selfless and we all want to make everyone around us happy.

I admire quite a few celebrities, my first being Serena Williams. Serena Williams has been dominating on the tennis court for more than half her life. She made her pro debut 20 years ago, at the age of 14. Since then, she's spent 255 weeks as the No. 1 ranked women's singles player in the world, won four Olympic gold medals, and now she could be the first woman since 1988 to pull off a true Grand Slam. Justin Bieber. His whole life, every move he made was ridiculed. Every person and every celebrity made fun of him, teased him, or insulted him from the moment his name was out there. He never fired back, though. No matter how harsh or how insulting people were, he often let it go, not even defending himself and never insulting anyone in return, which I find to be very admirable.
Another celebrety I admire is Miley Cyrus. Although she went psycho for a few years, she was just living her life. Miley claims that she never really knew who she was, and while she had her "breakdown" she started figuring out who she was which gives everyone hope that if you take time to find yourself, youll fall more inlove with the person you are. Not only that, but she went out of her way to create the Happy Hippie foundation which is an American non-profit organization founded by Miley Cyrus in 2014. The foundation focuses on youth homelessness, the LGBTQ community, and other vulnerable populations.“The greatest opportunities in life come with fear and risk.” – Miley Cyrus

My family wants nothing but the best for me. Everything my parents have done not just for me, but for my other sisters as well , was to always have a goal and do everything you can do to achieve it. Being family is also about supporting each other through life’s inevitable changes. It’s knowing that your family will be there watching out for you through thick and thin. Nothing and no one else will give you that. We are all close to each other and we always have to try and keep not just us, but everyone around us happy.
For my future I want a family that's similar to what I have right now, in other words, very foreign. We have so many jokes, and its nice being "different", compared to every other St. Charles family. For instance, my kids in the future will go to Assyrian school as I did because its fasinating learning about our haritidge.

Concerts really have impacted me. The first one I've ever gone to, the North Coast Music Festical really made me see the world and just people in general differently. Then I got hooked on going to these kinds of concerts! The next one that really changed me was the enviorment at the Dillon Francis concert. Everyone was just so unbeliebely nice there I could not get over it! And lastly the Excision concert made me realize how everyones always there for you even if you're headbanging for four hours straight. People will always find a way to make you happy and I want people to see me as someone who cares, and makes others happy too. You may read this and think, oh this chicks insane, but truly the enviorment in concerts are unreal. Everyone is so caring, loving, and happy. Random people come up to you and compliment you and want to be your friend even though they have no clue who they are. Seeing how all these people are so open and caring for everyone else around them has really inspired me to be the same way. Yes I am a very stubborn person, but now I'm starting to come into a realization that being selfless is a good thing and there's nothing wrong with that.

Why is school so important?

It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. Some say education is the process of gaining information about the surrounding world while knowledge is something very different. To me, without school you're going no where in life. Going to school has taught me how to interact with others, and that its okay to be social, and to be me. I should not worry about what others view me as, but worry about making myself happy. Also 9/11 made a huge impact on us because we can now be more educated on how and why people fight/attack others. Also, my dad scared us all when he showed us how he lived in the real world, in poverty. Not only that, but when I got my first job (Coaching tennis) I realized that having or just recieving money is really difficult to maintain (at a young age) and difficult to live the rest of your life like that. I've seen people who work and live paycheck to paycheck, and its a tough situation to be in, and I want to take advantage of an education i can recieve so I wont be put in that position. Education is the only reason why we are the person we are today. I used to take school as a joke in a way, I wouldn't try, I'd just go there and pass by. After my sister and dad came to me in early November of this year did I realize how truly important school is. The confronted me and said how my life now depends on it because I'm going to college. I now can NOT take classes to pass, but to take classes to learn, to see what interests me and truly learn. That never really hit me until now which may sound very childish but it's very true. One thing I do wish I learned was how difficult life would be out of this bubble. I wish some teachers would give us a reality check, or even describe what it's like to actually go in the real world rather than being spoiled in this town.

Media has made both a positive and negative impact in my life. When I was in middle school, there was a hate page for me. I have Trichotillomania which is a A disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out body hair. This was something I couldn't help, and had to fight off myself. The kids in middle school did not make it easy for me at all. After they made that page dedicated to me, I felt as if my life didn't matter anymore. That was so tough to deal with. After shutting off social media and learning to ignore others did I realize how my own life is more important than my life in the internet. It was a good and bad thing because I know that any type of social media isn't really that important and my life with out it is a happier and healthier life. Yes I still use snap chat to communicate with others, but my Facebook, and Instagram is dedicated to showing my pictures to family that I don't see very often.

Every time I was stressed, every time I was angry, or happy, I took it all out on the court. This may sound pretty awful, but every time I was volleying (up close to the net) I loved pegging my opponent. Most of the time the opponent try nailing anyone up at the net because the ball comes up to you fast, and if you get pegged its the other teams point, yet I managed to get most, not all, but most balls and nail the next shot right at my opponent.
