This could be a serious problem, because there is no way to treat or cure it. For example down syndrome is a mutation because there is one chromosome missing in the person with down syndrome. It takes something small to cause a huge problem. Meiosis is important because it makes sure that all organisms that produced via sexual reproduction contain the correct number of chromosomes. If the number of chromosomes is low for example you have down syndrome. You need a specific amount of chromosomes.
