The inner city in the United states is the residential zone with the highest population density. As you move to the zones further from the city the population density significantly decreases. This is known as residential density gradient. A very noticeable feature in Suburbs are large single detached housing,unlike the living spaces in the city. In Latin America you can also see the pattern of low density suburbs,but instead of cities you may find high density squatter settlements.
