Within the movie, Mulan is seen as this strong, brave, and confident woman who fights for herself and her family. She chooses to fight for her family in place of her father showing how she believes in herself to take part in those difficult deeds. She knows that since she is the only woman fighting upon the men in the Chinese army that it may be difficult for her to keep up, however she continues anyway. She, as does Emerson, "Trust(s) thyself... betraying their perception that the Eternal was stirring at their heart, working through their hands, predominating in all their being." In the song Never say Never, one line in particular, " I will never say never( i will fight), I will fight till forever(Make it right), Whenever you knock me down, I will not stay on the ground," relates back to the line from Emerson's text, " Bravely let him speak the utmost syllable of his confession.... Trust thyself." This shows how both of these texts are implementing the idea of trusting your actions and your words and to believe in yourself in order to overcome obstacles.
