Understanding what government is and why we need it.

Governments are often viewed as the enemy, too strict and unjust. However governments are used to prevent chaos and assist the nation. In assignment 2.3 we learned and gave our opinion on when too much government is enough.
"How Much Government Is Too Much? I think that enough government should be when the government protects the citizens with the law and when they need to assist in national crisis or to prevent it. Too much government is when the government gets too involved in citizens lives, when the government infringes on citizens rights. And yes I understand that sometimes them infringing on our rights can help prevent major crisis' from happening, however that is not a proven fact, there could always be different what ifs, we can not use a rhetorical situation to infringe on citizens rights. Involving the situation of Apple vs FBI, the controversial point was the fact that, should apple help solve one case while condemning the world? If apple had created a software that unlocked any phone, that would infringe on the worlds privacy. When the government infringes on the very rights they wrote and agreed to protect, that is when the government oversteps their power."

A government can only function with all working parts: politicians, laws and people. As a citizen you must do your part to uphold your nation. In assignment 5.1 we learned and shared our views on civic responsibility.
"In my personal opinion, the right to any religion, freedom to press, and freedom of speech is the most important rights. " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. " The reason I find these rights important is because everyone should be able to get all of these. What I find extremely exceptional about these rights, is that at the time they were written this was unheard of. These rights existed for no one, and yet here was a new nation offering you these unheard rights.

The most important responsibility is to respect peoples rights, not everyone is the same, but we all have the equal rights, and we should all get them. Some religions do not get along with others, but that does not give you the right to infringe on their right of religion. Everyone has been given these rights by the Founding Fathers, and it is your responsibility to uphold them. Even is there is still deep rooted hatred and racism in the United States, we are the land of free and everyone should enjoy that freedom."
