When working as a group, during the first stage, the expectations for confidentiality and behaviors will be addressed. Discussion will include what steps the group can take to make sure members feel valued and safe within the group. Group members will write these guidelines on a large piece of paper to be available at each group meeting. Once the group is clear on the positive expectations of the group, the group will move into understanding the purpose of working towards the goals of the group and how meeting these goals will enhance the rest of their academic career. Students will then begin working through the group lessons. During the final meeting, the group will discuss what they learned from the group, how they can apply what they have learned and how to ask for additional help when needed. The group will then meet in one month to discuss successes and struggles as they continue to work towards improved study skills habits.
