In this example he's talking about how everyone has the same shade of tunic. they're saying shade so they're applying that there is no colour. Another example is that they have ceremonies when they are 12 that they get their jobs chosen for them. they have this rule so that no one will make a mistake and that everything will be the same. "After the Ceremony of Twelve, you’ll be with your Assignment group with those in training." in this piece from the novel it explains that they have an assignment which is like a job. this ties up with my other point because they do not get to chose they are given their assignment at the ceremony of the twelves. my final point is that with all of their choices made they become less and less creative. without colour they don't have choice of what to wear, they don't have choice of what they would like to do with the rest of their and they don't even know who there parents are. when they are just tiny little babies they get adopted and no one has their real parents as their mom and dad. in conclusion i feel that self discovery is one of the most important themes in the story The Giver.]]> 2018-02-06 13:26:03 UTC https://padlet.com/courtney_bowditch/ix0e5e3t1z1d/wish/228568414
