Ways we can keep the water clarity in coral reefs is conserve water. The less water we use the less runoff will pollute our oceans. We should dispose of our trash properly, don"t leave fishing lines or nets on the beach. If you are snorkeling or diving near a coral reef, do not touch it and if you are in a boat do not anchor near the reef.

In 1987, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources created two large zones where people were allowed to dump "acceptable materials" in order to create artificial reefs. This allows anyone to create an artificial reef in that area as long as the material does not cause harm to wildlife.
