During all the movie he tries to prove  that he is a free man and to go back to Washington. He finally suceeds in contacting one of his friend and comes back home after 12 long years. His life is replaced by the torture and the humilation and the work in cane and cotton plantations.

It's the first movie that describes the story of a black american freeman who becomes a slave. This movie shows slavery horrors with torture scenes.

We liked this movie because the costumes are realistic and the actors play well. There is also good musical and light effects.
