When I was 7 I had a, my little pony birthday, I remember thinking that the ponies were horses. I had lots of fun with all my friends. My mother made little my little pony party hats, I loved them so much. I also remember hiding under the table with all the presents on it cause I was desperate to sneak a present and open it early. I obviously got a bunch of pony toys. 

 

How do Buddhists prepare for death?

Behaving in a manner that is believed to be responsible and good towards yourself and others leads to calmness, happiness and an outlook which contributes to a calm and controlled mind at the time of death.

 

By living a responsible and compassionate life will lead to having no regrets when death approaches. A dying Buddhist person is likely to request the service of a monk or nun in their particular tradition to assist in this process further, making the transitional experience of death as peaceful and free of fear as can be possibly achieved.

Before and at the moment of death and for a period after death, the monk, nun or spiritual friends will read prayers and chants from the Buddhist Scriptures.  In Buddhist traditions, this death bed chanting is regarded as very important and is ideally the last thing the Buddhist hears.

Personally, I’m not spiritual but I do find enjoyment in listening to music. The type of music I listen to is all over the place, but they all help me to relate to things and situations in real life. Songs like ‘This Is Home’ by CAVETOWN make me think of the stress of life, the fear of losing more friends and wanting to change myself. Being able to relate to the music calms me down and makes me feel like I’m not alone. I like to know that I’m not alone when it comes to being sad and going through tough times. The song might be sad and depressing but it doesn’t have a sad effect on me. Instead of having a sad effect, it makes me think.

The meaning of a ritual is a sort of religious practice. I don’t remember any rituals I’ve been involved in, but I know I’ve been to birthday parties and things like that. For example, a birthday party is a ritual where you celebrate the person becoming a year older. It’s better to celebrate growing up in a good way instead of being fearful that you’re getting older over time.

Catholics have Mass to worship and to receive God’s grace, to unify with him and with other worshipers through the sacrament of the Eucharist. They believe that its Jesus himself who’s acting through the Eucharist, and supplies all the grace they derive from it. 

During the Liturgy of the Word Christians receive God in his word. 3 readings and a Psalm are spoken or sung. The first reading is from the Old Testament, then the Psalm, the second reading is from the New Testament and the third is a Gospel reading. All 3 readings are usually from a certain theme. This is providing a connection to God for Christians.
